1630: Judging the Past as Bad, Brings that Energy to the "Present"

15m · Published 13 Jan 18:20

Today on Calmer in Five:

I discuss the concept of non linear time, but for a very practical reason. When we label a thing as bad from the past, we bring that energy into the perceived present. In order to have a calmer life, it will be serving to remove judgment from events we earlier saw as challenging.

We all have places where we feel safe and comfortable. There are people who make us feel loved and cared for. And the world is a really big place. Wouldn’t it be nice to feel loved and comfortable everywhere? It is possible; all it takes is a change in thinking.

1628: How Calm Were You Last Year?

7m · Published 09 Jan 15:26

While I encourage everyone to review their lives whenever they choose, most people opt for this time of year to see what is working and what is not. In keeping with that mode of thought, today I ask you to think about your level of calm last year. More to the point, I talk about ways to make this year (or any year) more peaceful.

1627: Don't Borrow Thoughts that Won't Serve You

6m · Published 04 Jan 19:06

I got a great reminder the other day about choosing your own path. What was the source of this epiphany? A fly…a common housefly. Lessons can come from anywhere, and this one was a great remembrance; Choose to live your life by your own thoughts and ideals, and don’t simply fall into thoughts that won’t move you forward.

1626: Gratitude for the Everyday things (that aren't everyday)

10m · Published 04 Jan 13:42

When we wake up and pour a cup of coffee, we never realize what a gift it is to have it. We just think it’s always going to be there. The same is true of people and other things. Because we see them every day, we think they will be there forever. They won’t. Today I talk about expressing gratitude for the everyday things that you might take for granted.

1625: So Long, Social Media

7m · Published 03 Jan 00:51

To many people, the thought of disengaging from any or all social media is ludicrous. However, upon careful consideration, I am going to conduct an experiment for the month of January; no social media…at all. Lately I found myself losing some peace from scrolling through Instagram. Sure I followed some positive authors and thought leaders, but thrown into the mix of their posts were advertisements, negative reels and of course, some unkind comments and people. I will let you know how it goes.

1623: You Don't Have to Validate Your Life for Anyone...Including Yourself

20m · Published 21 Dec 16:20

There are so many wonderful aspects of being human; but there are some that can mess with our level of calm. Today I talk about one of those things; the feeling of urgency that comes from feeling a need to validate your life. Whatever you do, or don’t do, has little impact on the your value. You are light and Love regardless of self-perceived destiny. Simply be.

When we attempt to bring ourselves to a space of mindfulness, we typically use our eyes to get us there. But today I talk about using our ears as well, even when there is seemingly nothing to listen to. Come listen. :0)
