This is a time we need to write and make art for the sake of healing our souls and enriching our communities. This podcast is a production of the Artemis Journal, a charitable organization now 43 years old and has evolved to be an all inclusive yearly journal with essays, poetry and art.

Carolyn Kreiter-Foronda, Virginia Poet Laureate

Carolyn Kreiter-Foronda ​served as Poet Laureate of Virginia from 2006-2008.​ She is the recipient of a Council for Basic Education Fellowship, three Artist-in-Education grants and an Arts-on-the-Road grant from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and has won the Ellen Anderson Award, a Virginia Cultural Laureate Award. Her poems, along with those of other Virginia poets laureate, are featured in two art installations at the McLean Metro Station in Northern Virginia. An abstract artist, Dr. Kreiter-Foronda’s paintings and sculpture have been exhibited widely throughout the state of Virginia.

Jeanne Larsen is a poet, translator, novelist essayist, and sometimes short fiction writer. Jeanne has a long history/herstory with Artemis Journal, starting in the 1980's while teaching at Hollins University. She has been published in Artemis Journal 14 times up to the present Artemis Journal 2020 which features her poem Discernment at Roaring Run.
