Chase has been taking a Masterclass with the renowned poet Billy Collins, and in doing so, it's helped him discover more things about himself as a writer, as an individual, and it's inspired his writing voice; something that all writers must find in order to create a unique reading experience for others.

Screenplays

25m · Published 31 Aug 14:19

In this episode, Co-founders Chase and Sergio talk about the formula behind writing screenplays.

Much like theatrical plays, the structure of a screenplay can be broken up into three acts. However, within those acts, the screenwriter must take into consideration the visual aspect of the camera; creating a cinematic experience that also helps tell the story and drive the objective of characters.

If you're an aspiring screenwriter looking to write your first project, or if you're looking for some insightful reads on how to learn more about screenwriting, this episode has some useful information for you!

Learning About Poetic Forms

30m · Published 24 Jul 20:49

Chase and Sergio are back again for another podcast episode about poetic forms and what you can do to improve your knowledge of poetry.

More often than not, writers just sit down and regurgitate ideas onto the page. However, if you can learn about the historic forms of poetry and know how to write different versions; sonnets, villanelles, prose poems, stanzas, ballads, etc.; you then learn how to adapt your poetic sensibilities into a well-tuned craft, rather than a hobby or daily journal entry.

Great poetry requires patience and dedication to writing, and pspoets is here to offer some insight about what you can do to enlighten your skills with intention and purpose.

That said, you can also learn more about pspoets at pspoets.com or follow us on IG: @pspoets

Thanks again for listening!

COVID-19: A Discussion with PSPOETS

36m · Published 24 Jun 04:59

This week, our Co-Founders, Chase Maser and Sergio Cacciotti, conference call in to discuss a recent trip that Chase took to the Mid-west to film a documentary about COVID-19 and women of color on the frontlines of health care.

PSPOETS is all about the arts, but given the widespread nature of this topic, we feel it's important to have these conversations and to inform our followers about the reality of what's going on around the country.

To put it simply, people are getting sick from COVID-19 and people are dying. The rumors and confusion about COVID-19 being a hoax could not be further from the truth. In this episode, you can hear first-hand from Chase's experience with these health care professionals; their stories about patients and loved ones who have passed away, and hopefully, you'll be able to have a better understanding of the virus and what you can do to stay safe.

Be sure to follow @pspoets on Instagram, and don't forget to check out our website: pspoets.com to learn more.

PSPOETS Relaunch: Berlin Wall and America 2020

30m · Published 12 Jun 04:45

In this episode, our co-founders Sergio and Chase sit down to discuss Sergio's latest blog post on the site: An American Teenager in East Berlin: April, 1989

Sergio shares an insightful account of his time traveling in war-torn Germany as a young man, and through his experiences, he sees a lot of similarities in the U.S. that serve as a warning for what changes need to happen in our own country. In solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, PSPOETS is a huge advocate for the protests happening around the world and believes that what's happening is a tremendous leap forward toward meaningful change.

PSPOETS encourages everyone to get involved with their communities. Use poetry and art to express yourself and join in on the conversation. Art is a powerful tool that can inspire others, and if you're having a hard time finding ways to join the momentum, you can always turn to writing to share your heart with the world.
