59m · PublishedSound engineer, lecturer, youth worker and project lead at That’s Sound, Carolann Burns talks to Carla Feuerstein, Diane Jardine and Susan Bear about their work in sound and their thoughts on working towards gender parity. Carla works with top folk bands HEISK and The Paul McKenna band. She studied as only one of four women on her sound course at Stow college. Diane is the owner of Sonido and Transmission Room Studios. Most of her career has been in TV dubbing, which she left in 2014 to start out on her own and now also lectures at Glasgow Clyde College. Susan is a multi-instrumentalist, sound designer and composer working across music, theatre, games and film. She has toured extensively with artists such as The Pastels, Malcolm Middleton and Pictish Trail, also recently releasing solo material as Good Dog to critical acclaim.
