The Power of Friendship with Bryony Blake

33m · Published 21 Apr 06:30

Today I’m talking to Bryony Blake, a make-up artist I’ve grown to love along the way in beauty. Though her credentials include the likes of This Morning, Strictly Come Dancing and the X Factor, Bryony is known and loved for her relatable approach to beauty.

In this conversation, we explore the highs and lows of friendship. Friendships manifest for a reason, a season, or a lifetime, and we’ll be delving into each of the above. From the moment I met Bryony I knew she loved her friends and family as much as I do, and I hope you enjoy getting to know her as much as I did.

Zoe Boikou on Zoeva Cosmetics, the global beauty brand founded from her living room

22m · Published 14 Apr 06:30

Today I’m talking to Zoe Boikou, the founder of Zoeva Cosmetics. Zoe’s story is fascinating; she started Zoeva in 2008 in her living room, with an eBay account and 10 brushes to sell. By 2016 she had sold over 5 million brushes, and today Zoeva comprises over 300 products and tools.

What really struck me was Zoe’s inspiration for starting the brand. We recorded this podcast some time ago, so her ‘new’ foundation is now well and truly out there, and any other references like where we are and any travel were of course part of life before lockdown.

Here are a few things that you may wish to take a look at...

10 Minutes of Wisdom with Bobbi Brown

10m · Published 10 Apr 06:30

As we’re currently living a life in lock-down, I thought I’d share a special bonus episode with you today, a conversation with Bobbi Brown.

Bobbi is the globally renowned make-up artist who joined me for a conversation a little while ago when she last visited London. It’s short and sweet, but Bobbi has always been such a big inspiration to me so I wanted to share our conversation with you nonetheless. And while we were together we took some time to film an IGTV Q&A which you can find on my Instagram page @RoseGallagher.

Here she is talking all things life, balance and wellness, it’s Bobbi Brown…

Trish McEvoy: Her Story from the Start, and the Gift of Time

30m · Published 07 Apr 06:30

Trish is a make-up artist with her own incredible beauty line, and to me she’s really special because she has such a unique bond with the people that use her products.

Trish prides herself on personally hosting make-up masterclasses all over the world. I love that the lady with her name attached to such a successful brand is still personally the one sharing her expertise. You’ll feel the magic and warmth from her as she tells her story from start to finish.

We recorded this a little while ago in case you’re wondering why there are a few references to travel during a time that the world is in lockdown. I hope you enjoy her musings on the importance of time for self care, and the power of taking charge of your own destiny.

Azzi Glasser and the art of capturing a character in fragrance

33m · Published 31 Mar 06:30

Joining me today is Azzi Glasser, a master perfumer who creates fragrances for everyone you can think of. Azzi is one of the most fascinating women I have ever met in beauty, and I love that she is led to create by her instincts.

Azzi works closely with all kinds of creatives, making completely bespoke fragrances for them, whether to wear in their personal life or sometimes to help them get into a new character if they’re playing a role in a film. She counts the likes of Stephen Fry, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Jude Law among her clients and friends.

So, telling us about her personal approach to fragrance, through which she finds your perfect scent based on your personality more so than anything else, here's Azzi. Here are some of the things that we talk about in this episode that you may wish to take a look at...

A journey of grief with Hannah Martin

31m · Published 17 Mar 07:00

This morning I’m tucked away with my friend Hannah at her house in South East London. She’s one of the industry’s most well respected make-up artists and her breadth of work spans just about everything. She’s widely known for her work with many of the royals. For years she worked with Bobbi Brown herself as part of the Global Leadership Team at the brand. She teaches make-up, regularly works with celebrity clients and at fashion week, or hosting masterclasses for the likes of IMATS, Delamar Academy and Vogue.

Today she has kindly trusted me with the story of how she lost her beloved mother, and her grief journey.

Changing the conversation around what is beautiful with IT Cosmetics

35m · Published 29 Sep 19:18

Today, seeing us out in style for the final episode of series one, I’m joined by a friend of mine. Meet Amanda Confusione from the global education team at IT Cosmetics, and employee #6 of all time!

Obviously I was going to do an episode all about IT Cosmetics. They’re a really special brand to me, I’m their UK and Ireland brand ambassador, and I get to see first hand the impact of their mission to ‘change the conversation around what is beautiful’. No airbrushing, no retouching, just real women and men celebrating their true selves. We also touch on their work with Look Good, Feel Better, one of my favourite charities.

Here are a few of the things we discuss in this week’s episode that you may wish to take a look at…

Life, love and make-up with Sam and Nic Chapman

1h 0m · Published 22 Sep 17:00

I am so excited to have my favourite make-up artists, Sam and Nic Chapman, on the podcast today. What’s so powerful about them is that they’ve made such a huge impact on the beauty community just by being themselves. Over the years they’ve used their platform to speak openly about all kinds of personal experiences, from living through domestic violence to living with depression and MS. Their openness has culminated a community where people feel like they can share and be themselves without judgement.

Today we’re talking about a little bit of everything, be it their first jobs in beauty, the journey to finding a work/life balance and how their early experiences have shaped the women they are now. I loved getting to make this one, I hope you like it too.
