Monkey Man | Film Chat Ep. 8

46m · Published 15 Apr 18:57

Monkey Man is an underdog movie about a man who seeks revenge. Dev Patel hurtles into the directing chair thanks to Jordan Peele's deft hand in scooping this movie up. It's John Wick but dirty and different. Patel's unique vision helps the viewer engage with the soulful main character, "The Kid," and launches us into this bloody, corrupt world.

Byran and Isaac talk for a while on the direction, production, and what they loved about this (if the stories are true) miracle of a directorial debut.

Take Me Back To Eden (Sleep Token)

55m · Published 25 Mar 10:30

LUKE IS BACK. Need we say more? Isaac and Luke absolutely dive into the lyrics, musicianship, and lore on this album and Sleep Token in general. They haven't missed a beat and the passion for their music is palpable. It's a great episode!

Dune Part Two | Film Chat Ep. 7

47m · Published 11 Mar 11:30

Denis Villeneuve has gifted us another trip into the world of Arrakis! Join Isaac and Bryan as they talk about their theatre experience, how they interpret artistic decisions, and how Frank Herbert dynamically changed the Sci-Fi game.

Minari | Film Chat Ep. 6

50m · Published 26 Feb 11:30

Director Lee Isaac Chung collaborates with his cast & crew to make one of the best movies of 2020. It's so good that Isaac's wife Anna walked down the aisle to the soundtrack (composed by Emile Mosseri). Listen to Bryan and Isaac talk about how much they enjoyed the Grandmother-Grandson dynamic, how they felt they experienced the Arkansas nature, and the dynamics of nuanced relationships.

This is one you won't want to miss!

Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2024) | Film Chat Ep. 5

38m · Published 19 Feb 11:30

Donald Glover and Maya Erskine have done many things -- but they've never starred in a show were they are married as spies. Listen now to Bryan and Isaac talk about the pros and cons of this show, where it falters-- and where it flies. Thanks for listening and make sure to watch it first if you want to avoid spoilers. It's on Amazon Prime!

BABYLON | Film Chat Ep. 4

58m · Published 12 Feb 15:24

Babylon is directed by the same auteur who directed La La Land, Whiplash, and First Man. Buckle up, because this movie doesn't let up for three hours. It's a story about three people trying to not only make it in Hollywood, but survive the change from silent movies to "talkies."

Margot Robbie gives an iconic, soulful, and manic performance as rising star Nellie La Roy. Brad Pitt is poignant, spontaneous, and revelatory as Jack Conrad, the silent era's biggest celebrity. Lastly, Diego Calva is dynamic, focused, and romantic as Manny Torres, a guy who's just trying to be a part of something bigger. Diego Calva even learned English for this role!

Enjoy Bryan and Isaac's talk on how this movie affected them and what it meant to them, right now. Wow.

American Fiction | Film Chat Ep. 3

27m · Published 05 Feb 11:31

American Fiction is directed by Cord Jefferson, who read the book it's based on, Erasure, and connected with the main character, "Monk." Jeffrey Wright stars as Monk and navigates familial and career strife while entering a newfound romance. Bryan and Isaac talk about this Oscar AND Academy Award nominated movie while also recommending some excellent stuff toward the end. Thanks for listening!

35m · Published 26 Jan 15:09

They were also going to talk about Seven Psychopaths, but they ran out of time unfortunately. Dive into a chat with them where they talk about Tom Cruise's height (and how it works for the Mission: Impossible movies), Tom Cruise's personality, Tom Cruise's weird life, and maybe even the movies themselves.

Thanks for listening and we hope you enjoy this 35 minute episode on movies. Stay til the end to find out what music they've been listening to recently.

What didn't we talk about in this episode? Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, even She-Hulk! Wow, everything is coming out right now. Even Rick and Morty right now. Do you still watch that? It's good, but it's season 6. I thought we were on Season 4! Seriously! I don't know, it's a good show it's just so much Rick and Morty. Except I will give them that in the very first episode of R & M they had an extended joke about Rick and Morty forever, Rick and Morty for 100 years! So maybe they're just following through with that. Anyway, thanks for listening, we appreciate it!
