19. Compelling communication techniques for podcast hosts

6m · Published 22 Jan 19:00
Hi, this is Annemarie, and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead podcast tip for coaches and consultants who want to launch a podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with their podcast. This is tip #19.  Today’s tip is about developing compelling communication techniques. I could spend an entire day on this topic, so for now I want to share in what areas do you want to hone your communication skills and how these can make a difference in the overall success of your podcast.  In terms of success – with compelling communication techniques, not only will you enhance the relationship, while continue to build know, like and trust with your audience, for those listeners who are ready, with the right communication and call to action, you’ll be able to get your ideal client, your listener off the podcast and onto your list. Everytime.  So in what areas can you leverage and develop your communication skills?   Interacting with and guiding the conversation with your guest, no matter what their communication style. You’ll know exactly how to communicate with even the most difficult of guests – from the talkative guests, to the guest who answers in two-word sentences, right through to the spammy guests who continues to promote their books and programs  Knowing when to dive deeper into a topic to unpack it more  Being able to segue seamlessly to the next topic  Knowing when and how to interject when a guest is going off topic or taking too long in answering their question  Knowing what keywords and phrases will resonate best with your audience  Knowing how to seed and lead with integrity. This is one of the strategies I teach clients and when done well, for those listeners who are ready to take that next step – they will, because you have strategically included the right content in just the right place, you’ve built interest and intrigue and for those change makers and action takers – that call to action is just what they needed to hear.  These are just some of the ways you can integrate compelling communique techniques into each and every podcast episode as you continue to build know, like and trust with your audience and nurture listeners into leads.   By the way, if you’d like to improve your communication techniques I’ve created my course: Interviewing with Purpose. You can access it at: www.InterviewingWithPurpose.com that’s InterviewingWithPurpose.com   I’ll see you in the next tip. [Ep#379] Strategy & Tactic(s): Why both matter when growing your coaching business

32m · Published 19 Jan 19:00
Recently, I had conversations with three coaches who were experiencing different challenges that stemmed from the same core issue – a core issue that can keep many coaches stuck.   It’s something I struggled with for many years, which sent me off on a wild goose chase of more courses and training, different business focuses, and what felt like an exhausting treadmill of action taking, but never really being able to build the momentum I needed to grow my business to the level I wanted.   Perhaps it’s something you can relate to as well?   Here are the three challenges, let’s see if you’re able to relate to either of these:   You’ve worked with a coach who has helped you put together a marketing tactic (i.e. a webinar funnel), however it’s not really generating the results you wanted, you’re not currently leveraging the tactic, and you’re unsure you’re targeting the ideal client who you want to continue working with.   The marketing tactic you’re doing to fill your pipeline has left you burned out (i.e. live launching) and you’re questioning whether you still want to work with the ideal client your live launch was targeting.   The marketing tactic you’re doing is working, however because it relies heavily on you, it’s going to be hard to scale, as there is only one of you.   Can you relate to either of these frustrating scenarios?   The underlying core issue of each of these three challenges has to do with Strategy and Tactic. Specifically, the lack of an overall strategy, which has led to the wrong tactic being implemented, which has led to the challenges they were facing.   While the topic of strategy and tactic may seem boring – as the title of this article states – Strategy and Tactic matter. Because without a clearly-defined strategy and correctly-planned tactic, you could continue to follow each of the latest marketing trends, try out every new bright shiny technology claimed to be ‘THE answer’ that’s just hit the market, and still continue to struggle to build the momentum you need to build a successful business.  That’s because adopting a tactic without the right strategy doesn’t work nor does adopting the wrong tactic for the stage that you’re in with your business, or your business model. What it can do is leave you exhausted, burned out and even more frustrated.  In today’s episode I share a summary of the most common issues you want to avoid and what to do about it.  Enjoy the show.  RESOURCES:   Subscribe to my weekly newsletter – The Influence Bulletin  How to Become Distinguishable, Uncopyable and Irresistible Masterclass   Book a time to chat with Annemarie   Enjoy This Podcast? 18. How to create an uncopyable and irresistible listener experience for your podcast

6m · Published 15 Jan 19:00
Hi, this is Annemarie, and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead podcast tip for coaches and consultants who want to launch a podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with their podcast. This is tip #18  Today I want to speak about what I mean when I speak about being Uncopyable.  To me and what I’m supporting my clients in identifying are all of the unique and uncopyable elements about who they are, along with their journey and experience that no-one else can copy.  It’s uncopyable because it isn’t their history, their story, their journey. It’s YOUR’s and yours's alone.  Recently, I heard a business owner share that she attended a training and the facilitator told attendees – if you don’t have an interesting story – just make one up.  I don’t know about your definition of ‘make something up.’ However, making something up – faking it till you make it – is a deception, a lie.   And, as the Change Maker I know you are – you don’t need to fake it till you make it, nor do you make something up. You just need to dig deeper and uncover the unique and uncopyable aspects that make you – YOU.  Now, when it comes to creating a uncopyable and irresistible Listener experience there are two more things I want to talk about in this tip that will help you create that uncopyable and irresistible listener experience.  Those two things are your Characteristics (or character traits) and Mannerisms.  Some other character traits could be honest, brave, bold, compassionate, lead, courageous, loyal.   Why are these irresistible? Because they resonate with your ideal client – your listener. Your style and approach – your character and mannerisms are something your listener can relate to and appreciates and is the reason why people come for the topic and return for the host – YOU. You may be speaking about similar topics as other podcasts – BUT the way in which you bring this information to life – your style, your approach, your character and mannerisms.  So, today, take some time to reflect on some of your unique characteristics and mannerisms and bring this out intentionally and purposefully in each and every episode to create that unique, uncopyable and irresistible listener experience.  I’ll see you in the next tip.  YOUR NEXT STEP:   Are you a coach or consultant who is struggling to stand out online? Do you feel unnoticed, unheard, invisible?   Access my free Masterclass, on how to become Distinguishable, Uncopyable and Irresistible to your ideal client – even if you’re in a crowded marketplace.  Go to: www.IndustryThoughtleaderAcademy.com/DistinguishableMessage  Post a review and share it!   If you learned something by tuning into this podcast, do not hesitate to write a review and share it with your friends. [Ep#378] Distraction or a Valuable Opportunity: 7 questions to find out which to avoid becoming unfocused

24m · Published 12 Jan 19:00
Distraction or Opportunity? How do you gauge whether a project you’re considering is a valuable opportunity or a distraction?  This is something I’ve often struggled with over the years.   For those of you who have worked with me on their Signature Brands (with the Branding with Archetypes system I use) my leading Archetype is Explorer. So, of course new projects, shiny objects, learning something new (which can take me off in another direction from what I was originally focusing on) can be an issue for me.    And, as I’m also a Quickstart on the Kolbe A scale, that's a double-whammy when it comes to my love of starting new projects. So, if I’m not careful – I can become my own worst enemy.   Then, when it comes to daily (and what I call ‘minor’) distractions, I can have the best of plans laid out, however an unexpected telephone call, a notification on one of my social platforms that someone has just commented on one of my posts, an email notification that flashes across my screen can change all that.   These types of distractions are easy to identify and manage – just shut off your devices, block out time in your calendar, and ensure you’re able to focus on the task at hand.   But, what about when an opportunity or a new project comes your way – how do you know whether it is something you should consider doing now, or whether it’s going to be a distraction, and taking you away from what you are currently focused on?    That’s a great question I asked myself several years ago. And, it’s what prompted me to come up with 7 key questions to see whether a project or opportunity I was considering, was a distraction or not.    Because a lack of focused and continuously getting distracted is a HUGE bottleneck to the growth of your business – trust me!    So, if this is something you’re struggling with, too – you're in luck. In today’s episode I’ll share the 7 questions so the next time you have an opportunity/project in front of you – you can ask yourself these 7 questions.  RESOURCES:   Take the Quiz: Build Visibility, Generate Leads & Enrol Clients with Ease with your Robust Customer Relationship-Building Nurturing Funnel   Subscribe to my weekly newsletter – The Influence Bulletin  Book a time to chat with Annemarie to find out how Annemarie and her team of experts can set up your client relationship-building funnel for you   Enjoy This Podcast? If you enjoyed today's episode of the Ambitious Entrepreneur Podcast, then hit subscribe now!  Post a review and share it! 17. How to define your niched topic for your podcast

5m · Published 08 Jan 19:00
Hi, this is Annemarie, and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead podcast tip for coaches and consultants who want to launch a podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with their podcast. This is tip #17  Are you a multi-passionate person, who loves to learn, you have many interests and you struggle to define who you are and how you can support people into one succinct statement?   Yeah – me too. I struggled with that for YEARS.  In fact, if you’ve followed me for a minute – you'd have heard me share before how as multi-passionate individuals who LOVE learning, we need to be mindful NOT to let our diverse interests - water down our message.  Because focusing on too many things – without a clear and compelling outcome (which speaks into the outcome our ideal client seeks) will mean our message gets lost in the noise.  In today’s tip I want you to check back over the last 10 pieces of content you shared across your social media platforms, your blog, your podcast and ask yourself – are these aligned to a clear and concise message that positions me as distinguishable, uncopyable and irresistible in a clear area of expertise so I’m building my reputation as a trusted authority in a key area?  Or not? If not, you need to make a decision as to how you’re going refine your ONE thing, which you want to become known for.  What is it that the combination of your experience, knowledge and certifications will enable you to support YOUR ideal client to achieve their goals/outcomes?  For me, it was helping clients stand out, be heard, and become an influential voice in their industry. The trusted authority. THE choice vs just a choice for their ideal client. And then taking their message onto their own podcast platform so they can leverage their podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with the message m they share.  Which is why I’m so passionate about doing this #ListenerToLead series, so you don’t make the same mistakes I did and can get results much faster by speaking to your audience of one.  I’ll see you in the next tip.   YOUR NEXT STEP:   Are you a coach or consultant who is struggling to stand out online? 16. The importance of speaking to an audience of ONE for your podcast

3m · Published 01 Jan 19:00
Hi, this is Annemarie, and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead podcast tip for coaches and consultants who want to launch a podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with their podcast. This is tip #16. Do you want to build your reach while become known as a trusted authority in your field with your podcast?  Don’t try to be all things to all people – especially with the message you share.  The broader your message is, the longer it’ll take to build your reach OR be seen as a trusted authority. If ever.  Because your message will get lost in the noise and as I mentioned in tip number 6 – my message got lost in the noise of my own podcast, which was one of the reasons I stopped production.   So what should you be doing instead with your podcast?  Hone your message to a specific niched audience.  And, speak to that niche. Speak to your audience of one.  When you do and you speak into the challenges, he/she faces, along with the desired outcomes he/she longs, as well as invaluable insights on HOW they can begin to achieve that, and it won’t be long before that audience of one becomes two, becomes four, eight, and so on.   Because you become a go-to resource and can continue to nurture your community into leads and enquiries and eventually customers.  But it starts with ONE, clear and highly-niched message that speaks to an audience of ONE.   Get clear on that first! 15. How to find the perfect guests for your podcast

5m · Published 25 Dec 21:52
Hi, this is Annemarie, and welcome to another #ListenerIntoLead podcast tip for coaches and consultants who want to launch a podcast to nurture listeners into leads, get clients and build their business with their podcast. This is tip #15  Today’s tip is answering the question "How do I find guests for my podcast?”  When I first started my co-hosted podcast back in 2008, and for many years after – I never really had a guest strategy.   I just interviewed people who I thought were interesting and could share valuable information for my audience. Which obviously is important, however unknowingly I was leaving opportunities and money on the table because I didn’t have a robust guest strategy in place. Which is why I now teach an entire module on how to establish a robust guest strategy in my 90-Day Idea to Launch your Podcast Immersive program.  So, once you have that in place and you know exactly WHO the guests are that you are searching for – now you can go and find them.  Here’s where I will often find my guests:  Networking events;  Social media platforms – especially Linkedin  Recommendations from trusted colleagues   And, if your podcast, who you are, and what you stand for aligns with the guest and how you approach them – they are more than likely going to agree to come on your podcast and it will end up being a win win win for all parties.  You, your guest and your audience.  So, before you focus on finding your guests, make sure you have a robust strategy in place to ensure the guests you do have on your show contribute to the overall goals you have set for your podcast.  What are they? Well, some of my guests have become clients, referral partners, joint venture partners, have invited me to guest on their podcast and even online summits.   When you attract the right guests and have the right guest strategy in place that’s the kind of results you can achieve.   I’ll see you in the next tip.   YOUR NEXT STEP:   Are you a coach or consultant who is struggling to stand out online?
