Our guest for this episode is Barbz, who has began her own jewellery business with her sisters during lockdown - Accesorios by Barbz.  She speaks fondly about growing up in South London, sisterhood and her Colombian roots, with motorbikes and musicals thrown into the mix too. 

Our latest guest is DJ Stylz UK. Born and raised in Plaistow, East London, Stylz is an internationally recognised DJ, Radio host & Executive Producer. He is also famously known within the Indo-Caribbean community here in the UK with his brand Chutney In London events, a platform he created to showcase Indo-Caribbean heritage & culture; from traditional music to overseas artists & live musicians both in the UK & overseas

To mark the end of an important month which has started to bring back normality for most; we acknowledge that there is still a long way to go in recovering from the pandemic especially for those who have been most affected mentally and emotionally. We at #BWTE have dedicated this very special edition for Episode 6, to discuss the topic of mental health in order to promote Mental Health Awareness Month. We talk all things mental health with our guest speaker, Jerome Johnson of @davis_johnson_counselling, who is a person-centred counsellor.

In this podcast we cover what mental health means; our own experiences and understanding of mental health issues; and how the global pandemic affected our mental wellbeing.

Meet Lawrence Carlos, a Stratford-born second generation Filipino, who has nurtured his passion for art and design from his youth into a career ranging from designing international architecture projects, delving into architectural and street photography, to now planning resilient, placemaking-focused cities in Southeast Asia.

The path to this multitude of creative outlets was borne out of a desire to set himself high aspirations at a young age, having inspiring role models and competitive peers among his family and friends, respectively.

In this episode, find out how he managed to stay true to his principles despite suffering from mental health issues throughout his adult life and what made him leave East London in 2016 for a new life in the Philippines until today.

For Episode 4 we speak to Alexis Azcueta known to most on social media as LXS. She is a budding creative in the make-up industry. She has taken the platform by storm by growing her followers with her craft for Lip Art specifically, showcasing her fun and vibrant (and miniscule!) bold designs. She shares with us her upbringing, faith and inspirations and the journey that led her to becoming a makeup artist.

For our third episode, we speak to Jerome who created his own counselling practice in 2020, Davis Johnson Counselling.  Jerome speaks candidly about his own experiences, upbringing and identity, and how this had led him to become an advocate for mental health, using his business to help further promote mental health awareness to help normalise asking for support.

For Episode 2 we are joined by Geoff's Sister JJ and Niece Imani, discussing generational differences, embarrassing stories but ultimately how Imani's lock-down hobby helped strengthen a Mother & Daughter's bond during the pandemic, building a business that is going from strength to strength
