Lead Like Moses at the Office This Week

54m · Published 05 Mar 00:00
Have you ever thought of yourself like Moses? I know that I hadn’t until just this past weekend. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. Some of those that work with us are still held captive by the lies of this world. They have bought into the notion that work is about their own power – possessions & position all for their own purpose. Like Moses, those of us that are faithful followers of Christ are called to set these captives free. While we may do it with signs and wonder – which I would love to be a part of; we can certainly be a great example of living for a higher purpose and helping build God’s kingdom here on earth. This week we started a new series on the Exodus Era where we’ll be looking to this famous biblical story for clues as to how we might expand our businesses into new territories – how we can become part of the fabric of the community – how we can be present as God does work through us & why it is so important that we set up rules in our business. Dr. Will Joins Us For a Great Interview A California boy goes to Georgia to learn Chiropractic and then lands in Asheville of all places. God Fulfills Promises Thru Us Not To Us

57m · Published 15 Feb 00:00
Have you ever thought about what it must have been like to hear God clearly call you or your relatives into some specific service or mission and then try to figure it all out on your own? If you’ve been called into ministry or if God’s been chasing after you to change the culture in your office to honor God with your work – then this week’s show was for you! God Fulfills Promises Thru Many Generations Sometimes I get hung up on trying to fulfill the entire promise of God through my own actions and fail to see God’s providence in my work. As we look at the patriarchs of the faith – we see a direct link to this struggle and how Rebekah & Jacob tried to work it out on their own. Like Rebekah & Jacob – hearing a special call on their lives in certain areas – I often attempt to game the system & try to force God’s plan. In the story of Isaac – Rebekah – Esau & Jacob we see an entire family in tension between tradition & God’s will. Instead of just letting God work it out Rebekah & Jacob encouraged Esau to give up his own inheritance & deceived Isaac to grant the blessing of the inheritance to Jacob. While Esau was quick to satisfy his own desire for instant gratification (can you say drive through espresso?) he failed to see the future benefits of keeping his birthright. This birthright would have had him with a double inheritance of the 100-fold increase that his father received as a blessing. How often do we reach out to satisfy the desire of NOW and sacrifice the long term benefits of selflessness? In the New Testament, Paul sees this temptation of instant gratification in direct conflict with what is best for the Body of Christ. Throughout his writings he continues to guide us toward the long term goals – steady plodding & self denial. Meet Gary & Ashley Helms Let’s not beat around the bush – they need your help! During our show today we had a chance to get to know a little about Gary & Ashley Helms and their purpose of serving God in a new lifestyle as missionaries to London. Listen to this interview & be encouraged as they answer: Why London? What does it look like when you stop having to earn your salvation? What do missionaries in London really do? What does it feel like to live on the edge & out of your comfort zone We would love for you to partner with them! If you are ready to do that – get more information here! Passing Down the Qualities of a Leader

53m · Published 12 Feb 00:00
Have you ever wondered what would happen if you were to sell your business? If you got sick or had to move – who would take over? This is exactly the problem that Abraham helped his father solve! As I read the story of Abraham – I realize that he was trained up by a father that understood that he was only a part of the string of men that would live in Canaan. He wanted to go all the way with his family – but he just couldn’t. After Abraham was called by God to move – he packed it all up and headed out. He was out to finish the journey his father started! In fact, from this section of scripture, it appears that God fulfills promises through us rather than to us. I think we get caught up in having to do the whole thing by ourselves. If we look at the success of Abraham & his family – we see that we have to be all-in for the portion of the journey on which God calls us. In addition, we need to train up those that will go further than we do. Mentoring is a Great Solution for Passing Down the Qualities of a Leader If we understand the our businesses and ministries are multi-generational, we can then work on training up those around us that can go further than we do. This means that we have to swallow our pride and lean into others that may – one day – become more powerful than us. Therefore, it is important to train them well and hone their character in a way that engenders trust and helps build an enduring legacy. Listen along to this week’s episode and get the golden nuggets that Abraham’s story leaves behind. We’ve included an encouraging interview with Jamie Gilbert of Custom Pallet too! God’s Promises For Business are Generational

57m · Published 02 Feb 00:00
On today’s show we provided an overview of the Patriarch Era and the multi-generational promises that God fulfilled through Abraham, Isaac, Jacob & Joseph. In subsequent shows we’ll be tackling each of these family transitions in detail. This generational approach can help us better understand our own roles in our businesses and ministries. However, it is important to note that when we discuss the Patriarchs of the faith, we need to remember that they made their fair share of mistakes, but repented and restored their relationship with God. In addition, the character traits and examples of previous generations were continually influencing the generations to follow. In business we can see this as clear guidance to: Remember that all we are just a part of reaching the mission of the organization Others will have to take the reigns after us – we we need to focus on equipping them for success. We need to get off their back and get on their team. Even the pillars of the faith made mistakes. How should we be treating one another after mistakes are made? We Were Encouraged by Lynnette Raines! We had the pleasure of having Lynnette Raines on the show today. During her interview she described her general philosophy of working with others – to help them see themselves of God’s creation. She also provided some great advise about how women can achieve balance in the workplace – listen to the entire interview on our podcast!
