S4: Episode 4: How to Bounce back after your role is made Redundant (Interview)

51m · Published 29 Jul 08:31

Welcome back to another episode of the Achieve with Me: Interview Series podcast! These episodes are crafted to help you manage common workplace challenges and grow in confidence so that you can smash your career goals!

Redundancy happens - and it happens to more of us than we realise. I was delighted to welcome Jane Ferré to the podcast to discuss this in more detail. Jane & I chat about the importance of how redundancy is handled from an HR perspective, and how you can bounce back as quickly as possible to look for your next opportunity. As ever, we are committed to supporting you in building confidence and navigating those common workplace challenges.   Who is Jane? Jane works with HR Directors to offer private outplacement coaching to their senior leaders.  This work helps the HR Director to exit their people with speed, dignity and grace so that they can transition quickly into their next role.   She came to this after experiencing redundancy not once but twice in one year - once her choice, the other not.  She was offered outplacement during the first redundancy, which she turned to during the second.  Using everything she learned the first time around, helped her to bounce back quicker.   Before setting up her own coaching practice she had a 20+ year career in senior HR roles such as HR Business Partner, Head of Leadership Development and Head of Talent at British Airways before joining LEON Restaurants as their very first Head of Training.     All of this means that Jane has been active in the job market in recent years. She understands exactly how much effort you need to put into each job application and how frustrating it can be when you get ghosted after an interview.  She has also been on the other side of the recruitment table, so knows exactly what recruiting managers are looking for.   I'd certainly recommend connecting with Jane on Linkedin and checking out her Youtube channel! S3: Episode 45: What to do when you are feeling bogged down by work!

25m · Published 08 Apr 07:00
Achieve with Me is aimed towards ambitious women who are keen to get ahead at work and want the confidence to achieve that next promotion! In today's final season episode I reflected how it feels when you have a list as long as your arm and are losing motivation to attack it by the second...   My 6 Step Reflection Process should help you to rationalise your task list. As promised I have listed this here in the show notes so that you can refer back if it was useful:
  1. List out all of the things that are on your mind to do
  2. Consider which ones are important. Go through each one and ask yourself - WHY is this important? And how time sensitive it is?
  3. Notice any patterns. Do any of these tasks stem from a particular person or department? Is it possible a change in process could reduce these in future? Is there a better way of doing any of these?
  4. Similarly, when looking for a pattern, consider if any of these seem to always be hanging around. Is it possible there are particular tasks you avoid because you aren't confident/competent? Could getting some additional support or training help?
  5. Reflect on if you have offered to do any of these. Could any of these have been avoided? (Be honest...)
  6. Delegation. Could anyone else do these tasks or is it essential you do them? If so, why - and how has it become like this?
