1h 42m · PublishedMeasuring Social Impacts of Design with Nick Juniper Practicing Architect from The Fulcrum Agency #85
1h 7m · PublishedDesign isn’t just something that looks good, or functions well. Design isn’t just subjective it can be measured objectively. And I’m not just talking about marketing metrics from an ad campaign, view counts on a video or sales from a fashion brand. I’m talking about objectively measuring the social impacts of design and how it can have a positive effect on communities. And in this episode, we’re going to be looking at this through the lens of a practicing architect with over 20 years of experience, Nick Juniper. Nick Juniper is a practicing architect with a passion for urban design that has a positive impact on communities. Nick has over 20 years of architectural experience working in tourism, community facilities, and residential resort projects across South East Asia, India, and East Africa. Nick is currently the principal at The Fulcrum Agency which leverages community and social outcomes through evidence-based design thinking. Nick also runs FreoCast which is where we are doing this interview from. FreoCast is a not-for-profit community radio station that connects community through radio. In this episode we’re going to find out about Nick, his story, discover his unique perspective on urban design thinking and the differences of how this is perceived across cultures, talk about his passion for community-based design, Nick’s experience working as an international architect, his connection to the Perth creative industry, the social impacts design can have on communities and how that might be measured, and his vision for his work in Boorloo Perth and Wyalup Fremantle.
