I didn't know how to answer the question: "What do you do for a living."

22m · Published 19 Mar 17:00

Have you ever been in a situation where someone in casual conversation asked you what you do for a living? Has it ever created panic and anxiety?

When I first stayed home with my kids after quitting a job I loved I had a hard time saying I was a Stay at Home Mom. I had a masters degree, a respectable job, and although I dreamed of being at home with my kids the question haunted me.

Fast forward 5 years. I was full on mommy mode and confidently answered the, 'What do you do for a living," with a proud statement of being a mom to my two kids. That is until I started a network marketing business. I was back to having sweaty palms and panicked eyes whenever I met someone new.

What do I say? Network Marketers have an unfair stigma so did I really want to tell this person I just met that I had just started a business. I didn't;t want them fleeing to the nearest exit, but I also believed in the products and the business model. So why couldn't I hold my head up high and tell them what about my job?

Upon reflection, the answer became clear as to why it was so hard to say I was a stay at home mom and that I started a network marketing business. It all came down to something called Imposter Syndrome.

Click play and check out my thoughts and what simple thing I did to overcome my own objections about who I was and what I "did for a living."
