Do you realize that nobody wants to pay for news anymore? If you are searching for news about last night's game, or today's stock prices, or a global event, and if you go to a website and they want you to pay first before you can read it, what do you think you, or most other people will do? You'll just go to a different news site, or just go back to Google, and go to the next result. Or the one after that. So don't just sell information. Sell your perspective. https://CutToTheChase.fm

Building your business on a third-party platform, where they own the platform, they control the sales, and then they pay you a portion of the profits, is generally referred to as "Digital Sharecropping." It can work for many businesses – like this show is being distributed on third-party platforms like Amazon, Apple and Spotify, to name a few. My Kindle books are sold on Amazon and will probably make the most sales on that platform. Listen to the show for the rest. https://CutToTheChase.fm

In April 2015, LinkedIn purchased online learning website Lynda.com for a cool $1.5 Billion. Lynda.com, at its very core, is nothing but a membership site, offering online courses with videos, checklists and PDF downloads. So when you have a membership site that earns recurring revenue, you increase the value of your business as a whole, and it will be easier to sell your site to a prospective buyer in the future. You've probably heard this statistic that says 8 out of 10 small businesses eventually fail. That's a colossal 80% failure rate. Now, it doesn't necessarily mean that the remaining 20% are successful. It just means 2 out of 10 somehow manage to survive. And out of that 20%, only a few go on to actually thrive. So why do most businesses fail? To learn more about creating an online business, create, sell and deliver digital content, visit https://SubscribeMe.fm https://CutToTheChase.fm

I came up with two words to explain the best and worst business models: DOGPOO: Do Once Get Paid Only Once. DOSAA: Do Once Sell Again & Again. So DOGPOO vs DOSAA. You cannot build a long-term profitable online business selling one-time products, or doing work that gets you paid just once - like freelance work or a service that you peform for a client, and you get paid once for it. One of the most powerful techniques I have ever invented - I call this the Dream-Book TOC Technique - TOC as in TOC, as in, Table of Contents. This technique will help you become an absolutely powerful & efficient MACHINE at creating content, content for your membership site, for your online course, a free youtube video series, a paid online video course, brainstorming topics for your podcast or flash briefing, Kindle or paperback book, writing sales copy, blog posts, etc. http://CutToTheChase.fm/

French mathematician and philosopher, Blaise Pascal, once ended a letter that he wrote, with this sentence: "I have made this longer than usual because I have not had time to make it shorter." Think about that for a second. Listen to the show for the rest. One question I frequently hear from content creators, is about the length of their content. How long should a video be? How long should a sales page be? How long should an article be? How long should your podcast be? I just have one simple answer to this: There is no such thing as "too long" - only "too boring". And as much as I would like to take credit for that beautiful quote, it's not mine. Listen to the episode for the rest. http://CutToTheChase.fm/daily/

Video is one of the most powerful communication tools available to marketers, influencers, content creators, and entrepreneurs. If you think of the reach of video - like movies, TV shows, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, not to forget, the 2nd biggest search engine in the world, YouTube, the reach and dollars in Video makes Audio look like an ant in front of a sky scraper. If you are a digital creator, it is absolutely critical that you Own Your Platform, as I like to say. It is very easy to get sucked into creating all of your content on third-party platforms like Facebook, Patreon or Udemy. Butwhen you use a third-party platform, all of your content is stored within their proprietary system, you can't easily customize it or modify it, and most importantly, all of your users will be in their system. http://CutToTheChase.fm/
