The 16th Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje; Modern Meditation Master Monday

1h 48m · Published 29 Dec 05:58

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Parinirvana of His Holiness Rangjung Rigpe Dorje the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, I decided to do the first Modern Meditation Master Monday profile on this King of Kings, the NIrmanakaya emanation of Chenrezig, the Buddha of Compassion, head of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. He was called the Miraculous 16th because of his tremendous and seemingly effortless spiritual power that he playfully and majestically transformed millions of lives with. He was a Buddha in the flesh and this was clearly evident to those who entered his mandala. Karmapa Khyenno! Karmapa Khyenno! Karmapa Khyenno!

What Is a Buddha? pt. 1

2h 43m · Published 28 Jan 19:30

The Buddha may be the single most influential figure in human history, and also the most misunderstood, or misinterpreted. When he attained "Buddhahood," the course of history changed forever, but when he announced to the world, "I am awake," what did it mean ? The legacy he left in his wake is one of the major religions of the world, know today as "Buddhism" but he did not teach a belief system, nor a philosophy, and not exactly a science. What he taught was how to deliver one's self and others from suffering through education, reflection, and meditation. Let's take a look at this magnanimous artist formerly known as Siddhartha, and what is means to be a Buddha. In part 2 we'll answer this question from the Mahayana Buddhist perspective.

In Praise of the Dalai Lama

1h 8m · Published 22 Feb 06:52

This week's Episode is about the King of Tibet, the leader of world leaders, the teacher of teachers, His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. This "simple monk" may be one of the greatest human bings to ever walk the Earth, and Earth is undoubtedly a better place with this being amongst us, so it's only proper to give an introduction and praise to one of, if not the most, central living figures in Buddhism. It should be a source of Vajra Pride that we can call the Dalai Lama our own, as he represents the greatest aspects of the human heart: tireless compassion, humble grace, shining intellectual brilliance, and patient forbearance. I cover a brief biography and history of the lineage of the Dalai Lamas and then discuss his duties and main aspirations as the greatest representative of Tibetan Buddhism...
