European Farmer Protests with Bill Wirtz

35m · Published 23 Feb 08:00

In this week’s episode, tracy speaks to Senior Policy Analyst Bill Wirtz about the European Farmer Protests.

Across Europe, farmers have rallied against changes in government policies and aggressive government environmental goals that are affecting business practices, harming food production, and seeing farmers in some countries having their farmers taken/bought out by the government.

Tracy spoke to Bill Wirtz from the Consumer Choice Center to get the details of the European farmer protests.

In this episode, Tracy and Bill speak about:

  • The uprising of farmers across Europe and what has been happening since January 8th when the German farmers declared a week long protest.
  • To provide the whole picture, Bill takes us back to October 2019 when the Dutch Farmers started protesting their government's aggressive environmental goals, which called for a reduction in nitrous oxide and the call for hundreds of farmers to sell their farms to the government to assist the Dutch government in meeting their environmental goals.
  • Flash forward to January 8th of this year as we see the German farmers kick off a week of nationwide protests against "subsidy cuts" or the end of tax breaks, depending on how you view it. Bill shares more.
  • Since January 8th, Europe has seen farmers from country after country rise and join German farmers. Tracy asks Bill why these additional countries joined.
  • In Europe, there is a lot of talk about "the Green New Deal." Bill shares more about how European governments have ambitious environmental goals. He shares how these lofty ideas are impacting farmers. He shares essential information here for anyone watching the European protests.
  • What about North America? There is a lot of talk in Canada and the United States about the environment, climate change, sustainability, ESG, and goals such as the 30% reduction in Nitrous Oxide. Are these stringent environmental policies headed for North America? What do farmers need to know?
  • Last, Tracy asks Bill if he thinks farmers are right to take these actions.

If you have been watching the European farm protests and are wondering what exactly is going on and why…this episode is for you.

This was such a valuable episode. If you are a farmer anywhere in the World, please don't miss this episode.

50m · Published 14 Feb 08:00

In this week’s episode, Tracy speaks to Trent Loos from Loos Tales about standing up for agriculture, educating the urban consumer, threats to the agriculture industry, and much more.

When anti-agricultural activists threatened the way of life he cherished, Trent knew it was time to take a stand. Consumers, even individuals in other aspects of agriculture, were listening to and believing the lies being spread by celebrities and vegan zealots. Somebody needed to speak on behalf of the hard-working farmers and ranchers of America. Trent accepted the challenge.

In this episode, Tracy and Trent speak about:

  • He realized very early that consumers were getting bad information about the who, where, and how their food was produced, and he knew it was time to take a stand for our industry.
  • He shares the story of how his show Loos Tales was launched and how the show airs on over 100 stations nationwide today and boasts 3 million listeners on-air and online.
  • His mission? Sharing the message about the people and places in rural America is a step toward re-connecting consumers to their food. Trent has been doing this since long before it was the “cool, foodie” thing to it.
  • Tracy asks Trent about the most significant threats he sees to the agriculture industry.
  • He speaks about the destruction of the energy sector and how he sees a similar trajectory in the agriculture industry with the green agenda.
  • He touches on the 30x30 land grab agenda and encourages farmers and ranchers to know what is happening before it is too late. He references the European farmers and how green agendas have harmed their farming operations and pushed them to unrest.
  • Tracy asks for words of wisdom and encouragement for farmers who see what is happening and may feel overwhelmed when it comes to speaking up for our industry.

If you are looking for a straight-talk episode. Look no further. Trent shares his passion, concerns, and hopes for the industry we all love so much.

Thanks so much for tuning into this episode!

I would love to hear your thoughts on the episode. Do you share these concerns with Trent?

Threats to Agriculture: Climate Activism, Ag Policy, Power Grabs, Advocating and More

42m · Published 24 Jan 08:00

In this week’s episode, Tracy speaks to Damian Mason about “Threats to Agriculture: Climate Activism, Ag Policy, Power Grabs, Advocating and More.”

Is environmentalism and climate activism the new religion?

Today’s guest, Damian Mason, thinks so.

In this episode, Tracy and Damian speak about:

  • What are the biggest threats to agriculture? When Tracy asks which one will have the most impact on our industry, Damian responds with a confident “agriculture policy” as the biggest threat to agriculture in the future.
  • Are environmentalism and climate activism the new religion? Damian shares that the most pronounced threat to North American agriculture is the regulatory environment, and the pressure comes mainly from environmentalism. The Climate crusade/alarmism/catastrophe movement has wheels, and it's getting traction.
  • He speaks about how the "end of the World" due to climate change has been fear-mongered for decades, and they keep moving the doomsday deadline.
Damian speaks about how the media and government are using the climate crusaders to push the movement further to justify creating additional legislation within and outside the agriculture industry.
  • Damian speaks about California and the Netherlands as prime examples of the green movement legislating farmers out of business.
  • Does the government want to control the food? Why are they trying to remove agriculture from California, the Netherlands, and locations around the World? He shares his thoughts.
Is it the consumer that wants more legislation? Damian says no, but it’s pretty clear the government does.
  • Are we feeding a growing population, or is the population in decline? The answer may surprise you.
  • So, how can agriculture better share our story to counter these environmental movements? The NRA (National Rifle Association) has only a few million members, comparable to agriculture, but Damian says they are fantastic at advocating. Why? They stay on message, and they know how to fight. It needs to be personal and emotional.
  • He ends with a few positive thoughts to encourage farmers. As always, every movement/trend is on a pendulum, and the environmental movement will return to normal once food availability, affordability, and freedom of choice impact the consumer. Then, the consumer will wake up and start to push back.

If you want an episode that challenges the status quo, buckle up and tune into this entertaining and informative episode.

Thanks for tuning in friends. It means the World to me.

The 30x30 Land Grab & Property Rights

1h 10m · Published 17 Jan 08:00

The 30x30 Land Grab & Property Rights

In this week’s episode, Tracy speaks to Margaret Byfield from the American Stewards of Liberty about “The 30x30 Land Grab & Property Rights.”

Have you heard about The 30x30 Land Grab?

If you are a farmer who rents or owns land in the United States, Canada, or anywhere around the World, please do not skip this episode.

In this episode, Tracy and Margaret speak about:

  • How her family’s decades-long battle with the government over land and water rights started her on this journey of protecting farmers and their property rights.
  • Margaret explains that the 30 x 30 program is a plan advanced by radical environmental activists to permanently protect 30% of America’s land and oceans by 2030. The program is being advanced by the Biden Administration through Executive Order 14008, “Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad” (86 Fed. Reg. 7,619), signed January 27, 2021.
  • Margaret explains that this is happening worldwide. She mentions Canada’s land grab goals and refers to what is happening in the Netherlands, with governments forcefully buying out Dutch farmers in the name of the environment.
  • She explains that while their goal is 30% by 2030, their ultimate goal is to eventually “protect” 50% of land and oceans.
  • She shares how they plan to achieve this and where they are on their mission towards 30%.
  • Tracy asks Margaret to get 101 and explain what conservation easements are. What is the typical length of conservation program commitments? What is the government doing with monuments?
  • Tracy asks Margaret to connect the dots on the dangers of farmers signing their land to conservation organizations.
  • She shares eye-opening information about the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). Did you know that the government has kept the program under the same name all this time but has been quietly changing the name and the program's purpose behind the scenes? This point is very important.
  • Did you know that if your land is part of the CRP program, it enables a federal nexus to be applied to your land? Why is this important? Private property is safe from the Endangered Species Act, BUT as soon as your land is part of these programs and government dollars are received on your land…this creates the nexus and means that your land now falls under the Endangered Species Act. Why is this important? This puts your property rights and land usage at risk if the government deems your land inhabited by an endangered species.
  • Do you think it is impossible to have your land declared unusable due to endangered species? Tracy gives a horrifying example of this happening within her area when a protected species of orchids was found in Southeast Manitoba. The farmers were threatened with a $50,000 fine and ultimately prevented from ever using their land again.
  • Tracy asks Margaret about the ultimate dangers behind this 30x30 land grab. Margaret answers with a sobering wake-up call and call to action on property rights, freedoms, and liberty.

If you are a farmer renting or owning land in the United States, Canada, or anywhere around the World, do yourself and your property rights a favour and watch this episode.

I really hope you find this information and episode as eye opening as I did. Drop a note in the comments. I would love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks for tuning in friends,

Tracy
