Conversation with Rosa Parra, a Chicana born and raised in East LA. Rosa became interested in films at a young age and just recently decided to become a film critic. She’s currently working towards her Bachelors's in Film and Media studies. Rosa's primary job aids in the medical field as she's a certified electron microscopist, that means a specialized lab technician and works in a hospital in Los Angeles.

In this episode, we will talk about why we use the word Latinx, the difference between the term Hispanic and Latinx, the Latinxs representation in the film and television industry, and where Latinxs can make an impact.

Thelma Neves is a Latinx in Power because she's a Brazilian who decided to follow her dreams, moving to the UK and working as a Designer Manager for a long time. Thelma Neves has experience managing design teams from the agency-side and also the client-side, and she’s a Product Designer Manager at BT. Thelma has a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design and a master's in Communication Design. She initiated her career as a Graphic Designer and transitioned to User Experience over the years.

In this episode, we talked about being a manager and leading a team as an immigrant woman, the qualities of a Product Designer, and Thelma’s journey in the UK.

A first-generation Guatemalan and Salvadoran immigrant, Jacobo Pereira-Pacheco is now preparing to leave the Bay Area as he enters the world of academia again and begins his PhD studies in Statistics and Scientific Computing at UC Santa Cruz. We had an inspiring conversation in which we discussed the world of Data Science and what a Data Practitioner does, the similarities between Statistics and Environmental Studies, and the queer Latinx community.

We had an inspiring conversation about how machine learning and cloud-based solutions can be a huge help in the fight against cancer. Alma is a Latinx in Power. She’s a successful Product Owner at Roche who came from Mexico as a Computer Engineer and transitioned her career to Product. We talked about the importance of negotiation skills and how communication is so important for better negotiation. Alma mentioned how negotiation is also about hearing people, and a lot of times we don't talk about hearing and listening to people anymore.
