Let's Talk About Development

This episode introduces "A World from Scratch", a new podcast series brought to you by the Human Development Research Initiative.

The Covid pandemic created questionings regarding the future of our world. If we were to create a new society from scratch, how would we do it? Through a series of discussions with researchers and specialists, we will try to reflect on this topic and better understand the pillars of our humanity and its underlying politics.

We are joined by HDRI's president, Alice Chempf, as she talks with Letiția Roman, a soon-to-be graduate in International Affairs at Hertie School and current Researcher at the IPLI Foundation. They discuss the challenges and emotions of navigating a global pandemic from the perspective of young graduates.

Since the start of the pandemic, there has been a dramatic increase in the amount of hate and violence directed toward the Asian community. In this episode, we discuss the origins and effects of this from the perspectives of Jill Montilla, Amy Zhang and Andrea Wong, students at Sciences Po Paris who are involved in the anti-racism association PourNous (ForUs). 

In this episode, we speak with Isaias Hernandez (@queerbrownvegan), environmentalist and educator, on the accessibility of the climate conversation and ways to change the narrative. 

In this first episode, we will discuss the movement #SciencesPorcs and the events that sparked this movement with Lilou Berenguier and Lara Haoudi.
