How She Got 1.5 Million Website Visitors with Pinterest OSP 082

42m · Published 30 Jan 17:56

Data, data, data. I've never really been a numbers person but when it comes to building a successful business it all boils down to the numbers. That is very true when it comes to measuring your success with Pinterest or other social media platforms. Sure, it's fun to pin beautiful images and discover great content but if your efforts aren't helping you achieve your goals, then why bother? Let's take a look at what one business did to get over 1.5 million website visitors with Pinterest.

In this episode I chat with Stephanie Hicks Butler of Hawk Media Group about the specific approach she uses for the DIY Ready Pinterest account that has led to huge website traffic.

This week's Pinterest tip is a new tool that I have begun to use called SumoMe. In a short time I've noted increased social shares across multiple platforms.

I also have a big announcement! I just launched a Pinterest for Business video course with Lynda.com! If you're looking to get things really going with you business on Pinterest be sure to check it out. Plus, here's a free 10 day trial to Lynda http://www.lynda.com/trial/CynthiaSanchez

Pinterest Followers: Do the Numbers Really Matter? OSP 079

28m · Published 04 Dec 21:01

In business, success often comes down to the bottom line. What do the numbers say? Bust should this concept also be applied to determining a Pinterest account’s success? How much does the number of Pinterest followers you have really matter?

In this week’s episode of the podcast I speak with wedding photographer and videographer, Chip Dizard, about the success he’s found with his Pinterest account. Since joining Pinterest he has been able to increase his business in multiple ways. His photography schedule is nearly completely booked for 2015 and he’s attracting business from other vendors.

Most people assume you need to have Pinterest followers in the tens or hundreds of thousands before any kind of significant impact can be seen in their business. This hasn’t been the case for Chip. Currently as of December 4, 2014 chip has 256 Pinterest followers.  And those followers have made a significant impact on his business.

Chip hasn’t worked to just attract followers for the sake of increasing his Pinterest follower number. He’s built it and uses it to attract the right followers, the ones who are most likely to become customers. He approaches Pinterest in a very targeted way.

In our conversation here are a few of the topics we discuss:

  • Niching down on Pinterest
  • Building your Pinterest account to be a resource for your ideal customer
  • The importance of paying it forward
  • Using private boards to nurture warm leads (this could be his secret weapon)

What I found most important to take away from my conversation with Chip is that what really matters is attracting the right Pinterest followers. He isn’t going out of his way to create an over the top Pinterest account with hundreds of boards about weddings. In fact, only a few of his boards are dedicated to weddings or photography the rest are focused on him and his interests. These other boards help to establish his credibility and let people see a little of his personality. Both of these go a long way in helping his clients get to know a little about him and establish trust with him.

How a Blogger Recovered Her Traffic From a Google Update with Pinterest OSP 073

24m · Published 09 Oct 18:42

Have you heard stories of people loosing all of the traffic to their website because of a Google update? I have and have always assumed that it only happened to websites doing shady or black hat stuff. I’ve come to learn that isn’t always the case.

In this episode of the Oh So Pinteresting podcast, I talk with personal finance blogger Jackie Beck of The Debt Myth about how she lost all of the traffic to her blog from Google overnight and how she was able to recover that traffic by using Pinterest.
