Bar K  is reinventing the dog park experience by creating a joyful destination for people and dogs. Bar K’s unique space for dogs, combined with a bar and restaurant for people, makes for a brand new type of experience.

Starting as a pop-up idea that combined cocktails and canines, Bar K quickly became a cult sensation in Kansas City — with more than 700 dogs in attendance at its first event.

For dog owners who wish to bring their pet, Bar K is membership-based and currently growing by about 100 new members a month.   Bar K also offers daily passes for owners, and it’s entry is free for those without dogs to come eat, drink, work or dog watch.

“If you’re working from home and you have a dog, you can grab your laptop and come here,” Leib Dodell said. “We have Wi-Fi and coffee, and your dog can play while you work. We like to think of it as a great co-working space.”

With their rapid growth and success in Kansas City, the founders decided to bring the one-of-kind experience to other Midwest cities in the second half of 2021.

“We’re going to open in St. Louis in September and then Oklahoma City will be a couple months behind that,”

Today we are talking with Michael Hurnaus, CEO and Co-Founder at Tractive, GPS for cats and dogs.  Michael started his business in 2012 after a friend's dog went missing and it took over 2 hours to find it.  That started Michael thinking why wasn't there a GPS tracker that could tell Pet Parents exactly where their pet was.  He left his job a few days later and the rest is history.  Tractive is now sold in 175 countries and leads the way in real time GPS tracking for cats and dogs.

Marc Abraham is the Vet behind the hugely successful Lucy's Law Campaign to ban third party sales of puppies and kittens in England.  The law came into force in April 2020 and followed many years of campaigning from a dedicated group. Hear Marc's story, the hurdles he and his team had to overcome, taking on government, large pet charities and legislative red tape.
The Lucy's Law campaign team was set up in memory of a dog called Lucy who was used as a breeder on a puppy farm. She was kept in shocking conditions and sadly passed away three years after being rescued. But her legacy lives on.

Angela will be talking to pet business owners, hearing about their inspiring products and stories, and their motivations. Why did they do it? What's the story behind it, because most people who have a pet business also have a special pet story behind it.
