EP.19 - Overcoming Podversity

30m · Published 10 Sep 13:00

This week, we have a relatively new podcaster, Matthew McSpadden, host of the Do Over Life podcast.  Matthew has had a ton of life experience which translates into some invaluable lessons for veteran and rookie podcasters equally.  Check out his podcast to hear about Matt's struggles, as well as the struggles of many other great people who had to overcome adversity in one form another but have found new ways to shine in life.  One of which is former PodUp guest Luis Congdon.

This week we also look at some interesting news from Libsyn and new efforts to assist businesses in their podcast endeavors.  This could have wide ranging implications for how companies communicate with their employees, clients, and customers.

Also, as a reminder, if you recently launched a new podcast, are considering one, or just want to be more involved in the podcasting industry, shoot me a note and let's talk about your aspirations right here on PodUp.  Would love to hear from you! EP.18 - Pod-Curious

32m · Published 01 Sep 23:10

This week we have Bernie Wagenblast, veteran broadcaster, transportation expert, and creator of TransportationRadio.com and CranfordRadio.com.  Bernie has a ton of experience in audio and offers some amazing wisdom to folks who are thinking about podcasting as their passion and career.  And while Bernie may not have really considered himself a podcaster, I think he offers more to this community than many of the self-proclaimed podcast gurus.

This week we also look at a new podcast series LimeTown, which I hope will become the next Serial.  It's a fictional story told exclusively through audio and something that I hope will spur more people to create unique work for the podcast space.

Also, as a reminder, if you recently launched a new podcast, are considering one, or just want to be more involved in the podcasting industry, shoot me a note and let's talk about your aspirations right here on PodUp.  Would love to hear from you! EP.17 - Cast Up to Cancer

32m · Published 25 Aug 15:27

This week we have Debbie Galant, journalist, author and host of The Chemo Files podcast.  She was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and has decided to take listeners through her journey as she looks to beat this diagnosis.  It's powerful audio, a great resource for someone else who may be dealing with cancer but also just a source of amazing life lessons from a phenomenally strong person.  Make sure you check out the podcast on SoundCloud, iTunes and at her website MidCenturyModernMag.com.  And send her and her family all of the love and support that you can.

EP. 16 - The Sports Gal Podcaster

38m · Published 18 Aug 13:00
This week we have Ramona Rice, the SportsGalPal.  Her podcast of the same name can be found at SportsGalPal.com and BlogTalkRadio.com.  She has an amazing story about how she became passionate about sports and podcasting, and what she did to find her unique place in the podcasting world. This is a must listen.  I should also mention she is the reason that I have moved my content to BlogTalkRadio.  She is a major advocate of the platform.  We also look at the announcement from Midroll about Howl Premium.  While the announcement is definitely a promising sign for the industry, I do have a small complaint about it which you can hear in this week's episode. Also, as a reminder, if you recently launched a new podcast or are considering one, or just want to be more involved in the podcasting industry, shoot me a note and let's talk about your aspirations right here on PodUp.  Would love to hear from you! EP.15 - Breaking Down Podcast Movement

23m · Published 13 Aug 00:33
Thrilled to welcome back Richard Davies, co-host of the How Do We Fix It Podcast and founder of Davies Content productions.  Richard had the pleasure of attending Podcast Movement this year in Texas and was excited to talk about his experience. (Editor's Note - After taping Richard remembered that he did see Matt Lieber of Gimlet Media speak at Podcast Movement...and said he was very good) This week we also learned that the Interactive Advertising Bureau is holding its first ever Podcast Upfront Showcase on September 10th.  This is huge news for digital audio in that it will give advertisers a chance to see what the industry is doing and why they should plow some of their marketing budgets into podcasts. Also, as a reminder, if you recently launched a new podcast or are considering one, or just want to be more involved in the podcasting industry, shoot me a note and let's talk about your aspirations right here on PodUp.  Would love to hear from you!
