He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Open Geospatial Consortium and a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, an Associate Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation and a professional member of the British Computer Society. Ed was the UK Ordnance survey’s first chief technology officer where he worked from 2001 to 2006. He has an honorary Ph.D from Kingston University in recogniztion to his many contributions in the field of GIS.
