Building an Online Community with Shana Bresnahan, Community & Retention Strategist

27m · Published 20 Feb 10:00

In the internet marketing world, we tend to be hyper focused on the front end and don’t stop to think about the leaky back end until we get to a certain point where we realize that we are filling this bucket, and then all of the water is just pouring out of the bottom.

This usually happens when you cross the six-figure mark and start creeping towards seven-figures.

Today my guest was my very best friend, Shana Bresnahan, Community & Retention Strategist. She helps people with online programs, courses, memberships, group programs to enhance experience.

Shana and I talked about:

  • The philosophy she used to build her whole business

  • What to do if people don't feel safe in a community

  • Mistakes people make when creating a community

Tune into this episode to hear about the strategies and tools Shana uses to fix those leaky buckets and how you can best use them to benefit your business.

How To Use For-Profit Marketing Strategies in the Nonprofit World with Heather Reynolds and Dave Keil

36m · Published 13 Feb 10:00

Something you might not know about me is that over the last few years I've been building a successful consultancy that serves both financially prosperous for-profit seven and eight figure brands, as well as nonprofit organizations.

While nonprofits have this incredible value of being mission driven, they tend to struggle with driving awareness and lack the systems to predictably increase enrollments. By applying methods typically reserved for the for profit businesses, we've been able to create something really unique and effective.

Among my many clients is the University of Notre Dame's Lab for Economic Opportunity. This is an incredible partnership that applies what I have learned in the for-profit world into the nonprofit sector.

For all of the for profit minded folks who are tuning in-this is a fascinating look at how nonprofits are embracing tried and true for-profit strategies to power up their lead generation.

This is a rebroadcast of a LinkedIn live where I spoke with Heather Reynolds, Managing Director at Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities and Dave Keil, President of Franworth about the work that we're doing.

If you missed it on Linkedin- be sure to tune in now!

Results Through Connection

26m · Published 16 Jan 10:00

In a recent article on LinkedIn News called 41 Big Ideas That Will Change Our World in 2023, number 21 was that social media users will turn their back on the algorithm. Turned off by the trolls and burnt out by the pressure of chasing likes, consumers will begin to reconsider their relationship with big social networks and smaller sites will start gaining popularity.

These will create the safe spaces people really miss from the early days of the internet. And they want to go back to those intimate digital environments.

This transitions nicely into what I predict will be the third trend that you really need to be aware of when marketing your business in 2023, which is a truth more than it is a trend.

And that is the magic of human connection.

I believe that it's the results that come through connection that's often missing from most marketing and sales efforts. And as a result, people are struggling, their launches aren't doing as well and enrollments are down.

They think it's because of the way in which the world has changed in the last few years, and they're not wrong.

But most importantly, what's often missing from this analysis is how much of the marketing and sales efforts that have taken place online in the last few years has become extremely impersonal and dehumanized.

So in today's podcast episode, I'll be sharing with you the third and final truth that you need to know about marketing your business and 2023 and beyond.
