E16: The Place I Spend The Most Time Connecting (it's not a social network)

8m · Published 01 Sep 11:00

As the years go by, I am less and less concerned with the number of followers and likes. I'm more interested in stronger connections with fewer people. I want to help and be helped by passionate, driven, entrepreneurial-minded badasses.

I've found a community of exactly those types of people and i'm spending nearly all of my "social" time with them.

E15: The Power In Building Your Business Slowly

9m · Published 25 Aug 11:00

The benefits of building slowly are never noticed until you're farther down the road. When I started side hustling, I'd hoped I'd be closing in on six figures within a year or two. Truthfully, sometimes my eyes are bigger than my stomach. I feel like something is so easy because I can see the finish line. Just because you can see it, doesn't mean it'll be easy to get to.

After 5 years of side hustling in the web design space, i'm more appreciative of what i've learned and how it applies to growing a stable, strong business model.

In this episode, i share things i've learned in that time and how it can help you stay patient and build a business that lasts.

E11: How A Promotion Has Me Adjusting My Side Hustle

11m · Published 21 Jul 11:00

Side hustles can be amazing. They can also make you crazy if you do something just for the money. You have to find things in life that you love.

I've been side hustling for a few years and have always been torn. I love my day job. I love my side hustle. Recently, I got a promotion at my day job that I didn't see coming.

It's thrown my day job, side hustling balance way off as I familiarize myself with a new department and understand the work that I am now responsible to get done.

In this episode, I talk about how I am managing that balance and how it's going so far.

8m · Published 07 Jul 11:00

When you operate as a solopreneur it can get lonely. The work can keep you isolated. One of the best things I've found to keep me motivated, on the edge of creativity, and happy has been finding awesome communities.

Elegant Themes has built an incredible community around the Divi theme and so many great developers and content creators have built their own Divi communities as well.

Another major connection point has been podcast like the Josh Hall Web Design Show and Divi Chat.

There are also some incredible YouTube channels for education and the communities built in the chat can be awesome too...
