Episode 286 - He Found the Titanic, Bro!

1h 9m · Published 05 Jan 17:55

Welcome to Episode 286 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things pop culture provided that our DVR’s have space and our streaming accounts are paid up.  This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jake, Jeff Albright & Matt Orrin), are virtually together to discuss all things geek.

Jeff comes out of retirement for this banger, and we talk about the future of the DCU.  As of now, we know Wonder Woman 3 isn't happening and Cavill is out as Superman, though he has mad Geek credentials and might have secured himself a sweet future project.  However, we don't know the future of Momoa and Ezra Miller quite yet though we have no problem speculating.  We also heard Affleck is still gonna have a presence, possibly directing something.  We fantasize about a Plastic Man movie, and who would play him.  Val Kilmer comes up in conversation and we discuss his best roles.  What's your favorite Val Kilmer film?

Episode 285 - Fishface Magillicutty

58m · Published 28 Dec 17:55

Welcome to Episode 285 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things pop culture provided that our DVR’s have space and our streaming accounts are paid up.  This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jake, Nate Balding & Matt Orrin), are virtually together to discuss all things geek.

Wednesday is HOT!  Possibly the day of the week but definitely the show, for sure.  It maintains a bunch of the kookiness from the Addams family lore, and adds a nice touch of spookiness.  We talk about everyone's favorite character actor, Michael Rooker, and some his best roles.  The DCEU continues to make waves with the announcement of WW3 not moving forward, and Patti Jenkins comments regarding the situation.  And it's determined that Mitch loves clown based things.  What do you got?

Episode 284 - The L.U.I.G.I. SYSTEM

1h 15m · Published 16 Dec 17:55

Welcome to Episode 284 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things pop culture provided that our DVR’s have space and our streaming accounts are paid up.  This week, the Geeks (Mitch, & Jake), joined by Reese Jenniges and Jake's friend Hunter, are virtually together to discuss all things geek.

The Super Mario Brothers looks like it'll be a fun movie and is causing some excitement.  Jake talks some Apple TV+ shows, such as Spirited and Slow Horse.  We talk some Wednesday, which has been a great show to watch!  Jake's friend Hunter is getting caught up on the MCU, and finally we do a dive into Titans.  Is it the "Worst Best Show" on Television, or the "Best Worst Show", due to its writing and acting?  It can be awesome and so bad at the same time!  And lastly, Hogan's Heroes and how star Bob Crane got his skull caved in by a co-star he filmed having rough sex.  What are your thoughts?

Episode 283 - I am MODOK!

1h 19m · Published 08 Dec 17:55

Welcome to Episode 283 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things pop culture provided that our DVR’s have space and our streaming accounts are paid up.  This week, the Geeks (Nate, Jake & Matt Orrin) are virtually together to discuss all things geek.

We talk about streaming services, which ones should go and which are gonna stay strong.  How does AMC+ survive?  Is there content game that strong?  We reminisce about that days where you needed an appointment to watch a show, not knowing when you would see that episode again.  Watching your favorite shows each week, with or without friends.  We also talk the Guardians Xmas special, which was delightful.  Also, Disney+ seems to be dumping content to Hulu based on performance.  Are they getting rid of low performing content from their flagship service to make their rating look better?  Last, we talk the implications of Legendary Pictures, and Christopher Nolan, leaving a deal with WB to pursue other avenues, specifically with Sony.  They don't like how WB is doing business, especially with regards to releasing movies directly to streaming, rather than theaters.  What are your thoughts?

Episode 282 - Kevin Conroy Forever!

1h 17m · Published 02 Dec 17:55

Welcome to Episode 282 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things pop culture provided that our DVR’s have space and our streaming accounts are paid up.  This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jake & Matt Orrin), joined by comedian Tripp Kerr, are virtually together to discuss all things geek.

It's a sad day, for we lost Kevin Conroy today.  The true voice of the Dark Knight is gone, and we mourn his passing.  To match that grief, we discuss a movie with the central theme of grief and trauma: Wakanda Forever.  The new Black Panther movie pays great tribute to Chadwick, right out the gate.  Warning - make sure to have tissues on hand when you watch this movie.  We get to see Namor is all his glory and he does a wonderful job.  We talk Mythic Quest, a new show from Charlie Day and Rob McElhenney.  Last, James Gunn is working on the DCEU bible, which hopefully has the lasting power of the New Testament.  What are YOU hoping to see in the Gunn DCEU?

It's Election day, as of this recording, and we vote on our favorite Clint Howard movies!  Titans is also back, so we jump into that a little bit, mostly out of excitement that Zazlav hasn't cancelled it.  Doom Patrol is coming back soon, which is great news for Brendan Frasers continued resurgence.  How these shows tie in to the James Gunn DCEU will hopefully become apparent.  Last, Mitch and Jake talk the new Quantum Leap.

James Gunn news has us all giggity!  He is in charge of ALL DC film, and tv, content.  Can he overcome Zaslav?  We talk more Quantum Leap, and Mitch gets into the fold.  We finished This Fool and could not recommend it enough!

Episode 279 - Miyagi Mitch

1h 9m · Published 31 Oct 17:55

Welcome to Episode 279 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things pop culture provided that our DVR’s have space and our streaming accounts are paid up.  This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jake & Matt Orrin) are virtually together to discuss all things geek.

She-Hulk is over, and boy did she smash!  The show was fun, did some weird things and ended in a great way, though there is bound to be haters out there.  Which leads us to fandom, which in many ways can suck.  Should studios cave to the whims of fans?  What about when creators, like Alan Moore, have issues with their creations getting made into movies? Somehow, that leads us to how many people the Baldwins have killed, not on screen, but in real life.  Any ideas?

Rev your engines and kick it into gear because this episode is mostly about cars!  Matt Orrin has questions and Jake has answers, and we all learn about displacement and torque.  We also talk about a certain blind lawyer getting smashed on She-Hulk, with no shame for his walk home in the morning.  Also, a trailer for the Mario brothers movie is out and we talk about it, and it looks fun!

Episode 277 - Sick Dick

Welcome to Episode 277 of Broadcast Geeks! On this podcast we discuss all things pop culture provided that our DVR’s have space and our streaming accounts are paid up.  This week, the Geeks (Mitch, Jake & Matt Orrin) are virtually together to discuss all things geek.

We're getting excited about Black Panther 2, with the rise of Namor.  It looks like he has those wings on his feet that help him fly.  He'll start as a villain but then must become an anti-hero, right?  Also who is in the Panther suit?  Jake talks about a new show called Reboot that has a funny cast and premise.  Last, we revel in She-Hulk and all of its humorous, legal glory.  Its definitely not your typical superhero show.
