Joining Isaac and Omar for a Valentines mate date is London’s very own Disney princess, Maddison. Valentines Day can be a real humdinger of misplaced hope and happiness if spent with the wrong person or, if you’re lucky, alone... but fortunately there were no such fears here because Maddison brought the toe tapping, feminist, feel good fiesta, Dirty Dancing as well as a whole heap of LOVE! Joining Isaac and Omar for the first episode of 2019 is their close (Taint) friend Ayshe, a solid member of their squad and someone with strong opinions, morals and values. Ayshe also brings bags of smiles, seriousness, sweetness and soul to any situation and when she joined them on the sofa she brought a film, which has that in spades. Her choice was the best foreign language film of 2004, the Oscar and Bafta winning epic, The Motorcycle Diaries. So with a “new year same me” mentality they shook off the festive cobwebs and went on a road trip of self reflection and discovery, which mirrored that of the film’s protagonists. On this short bonus episode Isaac and Patrick (the very first guest from Episode 1) embark on a trip Back To The Film Fair. The Moviemania Film Fairs are where Isaac and Patrick spent many a Saturday looking for hooky pirate films, video nasties and German Laser Disc copies of Hellraiser II.  So seeing as they hadn’t done that for nearly 20 years, they figured Patrick’s Birthday was the perfect occasion to step back in time. Joining Isaac and Omar for this weeks very festive Christmas episode is their very merry mate, a Sexy Santa, Mr Bantaclaus himself, Solomon. Solomon sauntered, swayed and stumbled into their lives via London's after party circuit (or an ex girlfriend depending on who’s telling the story) and he firmly established himself as a purveyor of big tales, laughs, energy and shoes. When he joined them on the sofa he literally brought the party, in the form of the found footage, gross out and misunderstood masterpiece of mental mayhem, PROJECT X (the extended cut), which is not to be confused with the 1987 film starring Matthew Broderick and a Chimpanzee. Joining Isaac and Omar for a bumper episode this week are two people we couldn’t separate, because we love them both and they love each other, which is good because they married each other. Joining Isaac and Omar this week is the delightful Portia Ferrari, a firebrand fusion of creativity, activity and hustle. She’s also a huge gangster film fan so it was fitting that she brought us the Martin Scorsese epic, Gangs Of New York. This episode was also recorded on World Vegan Day so it made sense to have another Vegan visit Omar’s studio and join us on the Sofa. However World Vegan day probably wasn’t the best time to watch a film filled with blood that features characters called Bill The Butcher and The Dead Rabbits. Unperturbed we settled in to watch it, in its nearly two and half hour glory. After a few DVD glitches and plenty of chilli peanuts we found a film worthy of reappraisal 15 years on. This week we take a trip back to the 00’s with Isaac’s protege and colleague Elana, a fledgling filmmaker with a fiery mind and mouth. She actually kept us “waiting" and then brought us WAITING, a 2006 comedy in the vein of American Pie but without that films crude charm. **THIS EPISODE WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS. OBVS.** WAITING contains a host of familiar faces including a pre Deadpool Ryan Reynolds so we were hoping for something funny and entertaining but were actually pretty mortified by the style, tone and content of the humour on show. The 00’s was definitely a simpler time and this film is definitely a product of that era and most definitely a pre #metoo product. You have been warned.
