E72 | Why Hybrid shooting helps you serve different types of clients and increases your revenue potential

38m · Published 04 Aug 05:00

As most of our work is from photographing and filming weddings and probably most of the people in this community are doing the same we usually discuss topics around hybrid shooting weddings. But hybrid shooting can provide so many opportunities for photography and videography work outside of weddings.

In this episode we discuss how you can increase your revenue and create greater financial security by diversifying the work we do and incorporating photo and video into what we offer to those clients making us more likely to be hired.

The How to Shoot Hybrid Podcast is for photographers and videographers who capture weddings, live events, work with commercial clients and work on creative projects. We discuss different topics around photography and filmmaking in each episode as well as interview guests in the photography, filmmaking and hybrid content creation industries.

The podcast is hosted by Jules & Lyndsey Nelson, co-owners of Your Story Studios. Check out our socials:

E69 | The lines are blurred!

43m · Published 14 Jul 05:00

In this rather ramble-esk  episode, I explain how I found out through a Facebook poll that it no longer really matters if you are a photographer or videographer, you can capture/create/post whatever you like and it is totally acceptable!

Does this mean there is no line in the sand anymore? Is there no distinction between your role or job at a wedding or on a commercial project? Can you literally just please yourself despite what you were hired to do? I am not sure....but according to a fairly large sized response to a question of our peers here in the UK, this appears to be the case.

I do think this is a great piece of evidence that attitudes towards hybrid content creation is changing and that everyone has started to shift their mindsets to a different way of doing things. Here is to the future of lines becoming even more blurred when it comes to photography, videography, filmmaking and creating content!
