Dearest Strangers

53s · Published 23 Jul 20:07

How did we start off as complete strangers?
Yet somehow ending up as dearest lovers?
Slowly becoming the most perfect two,
Growing closer than anyone in this world.

When did we move from dearest lovers,
To becoming two complete strangers?
Now walking two parallel paths in this world,
No longer sharing any memories anymore.

You started by making my lonely soul whole,
Yet ended up leaving my aching heart in two.
Regarding of you being a stranger or a lover,
You left behind traces like no other.

Past

Turn back time to when I was still a boy,
So I can fall in love again for the first time.
Meeting that girl who was oh so special,
She who brought warmth to my dying heart.
My shinning light during my darkest winter,
My companion on all those adventures.

Looking back to those days long gone,
Memories of a time fading slowly away.
Losing you will forever be a regret,
But life works in its own special way.

I hope you found happiness in this life,
With all the love I can never give.

Lessons

Who was it that taught you how to love
Was it her with the gentle soul
Who held you together during your darkest days
Who gave you that sweet summer kiss in the rain
Who cherished you deeply with her innocent love
Or was it her with the fire within
She who brought peace to your lonely soul
She who share those countless adventures
She who has the kindest and warmest heart
It was both and their unforgettable lessons of love
Lessons that you have learned though regret and tears
Lessons you will forever hold close to your heart
Lessons that you hope to never learn again

Never Fading

Why does it hurt so much still?
Was it because of how similar we were?
How much we enjoyed each other's company/
Those secrets we shared with one another?
The intimacy we shown no others?
The music you once played for me?
The poems I wrote for you.
The adventures we went on with each other
The promises we made for one another.
The stories we were hoping to create
The future that was there for us to make.

When We were Young

2m · Published 26 May 00:42

I still remember the days when we were young,
When we kissed during the summer storm,
Dripping from head to toe in the August dew.
I still remember the days when we were young,
Cuddling together during the winter freeze
Sipping tea and laughing about the January snow.
I still remember the days when we were young,
Lying on the lake and counting the stars,
Talking about our dreams and our personal fears.
I still remember the days when we were young,
When our lives were filled with innocence and joy,
When all we cared for was each other.
I still remember the days when we were young,
When I thought you were the only one for me,
That all my fear and pain can be taken away by you.
I still remember the days when we were young,
How we had all these unrealistic dreams and expectations,
How we believe our love can conquer all.
I still remember the days when we were no longer so young,
When the reality of life hit us hard,
When our love cannot conquer all.
I still remember the day we grew up,
What we want and what we saw is no longer right for us,
What we wish for is no longer us.
I still remember the day we broke up,
The pain in our heart, the tears in our eyes,
Can't believe that this was the end after all.
I still remember the day when we were young,
But I'm not sure if you still do.
Life may have taken us in two separate paths,
But I will always remember the days when we were young.

Frozen In Place

51s · Published 14 May 21:31

I have a hole in my heart,
That just won't ever heal.
I'm trying to move forward,
In a life that is no longer whole.
I'm broken in many pieces,
Struck and frozen in place.
I am no longer able to feel,
Those emotions I once cherish.
Envious of others finding love,
Feeling lonely and hopless.
Why did you give me hope,
Only to take it away from me.
How can I move forward?
When I can't let you go.

Fading

58s · Published 14 May 21:20

My memories of you is becoming blurred,
I can no longer remember your face.
My once most familiar companion,
Now slowly fading into the shadow.
I can no longer remember your voice,
That once sweetest music to my ear,
Now an echo in the distant shore.
I can no longer remember your touch,
That softness that was once so cherished,
Now so foreign and unfamiliar.
I can no longer remember you,
Your presence is fading away,
I am forgetting what was once unforgettable

Heartbreak

Tears swelling in my eyes as I travel down this road for the last time.
It's surprising how the last time can feel so much like the first.
Feeling those nervous lumps in my chest again,
Anxious at seeing your face for the last time.
It's painful to know how short forever really is,
Forever gone in a blink of an eye.
I truly thought you were the one for me,
I had never been so sure of anything in my life.
Now I'm left completely broken in pieces,
How do I recover from a heartbreak I never expected?
How do I move on when I never thought of a future without you?
How do I do anything when I was trying to plan a life with you?
Feeling so much bitterness and pain once again,
Maybe it's better not to love after all.

Those Days

I remember those mornings we went chasing sunrises,
Trying to catch a glimpse of the glowing lights.
I remember those nights we danced under the stars,
Singing songs to the glee of our hearts.
I remember those days we dreamed of a better tomorrow,
Those hopes and wishes we want the world to see.
I remember those moments that we will forever cherish,
Moments so special and dear to our heart.
I remember those friends we will love eternally,
Those we shared our stories in this life-long journey.
I remember those memories we shall never forget,
Bit and pieces that makes this life so special.

Today

I travelled back in time today
Back to the land I once called home.
I smelled the scents of the once familiar place,
Seeing the shadows of those I once knew.
I travelled back in time today
Back to that summer many years back,
All those moments we shared together.
The laughter and joy we once had.
I travelled back in time today,
Remembering all those goodbyes I said.
All the friends that have left since then,
The emptiness that is now here to stay.
I travelled back in time today,
Surprised at the memories that flowed from me.
Hard to imagine the changes that have happened,
Left wondering how much time has passed since those days.
