Shoot This Now
by Tim Molloy
We talk about true stories that we think should be made into TV shows or movies. First we talk about why they belong on-screen -- then we talk about how we'd like to see them on-air: Who should direct, who should write, who should star. We dig up lesser-known people whose stories deserve to be told, forgotten moments in history, and fresh angles on very familiar memories.
Your hosts, Tim and Deirdre, are married writers who only recommend stories that we would personally want to see. Join us and follow us at @ShootThisNowPod. Thanks!
We love you.

Sean Hannity: The College Years

What Facebook Can Learn From the Tylenol Murders
26m · PublishedWe talk about stories that should be made into movies. This week: How the Tylenol murders offer a masterclass in crisis PR -- one Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg should study.
Plus: Why we think Michael Keaton should star in our story, and how it relates to the Unabomber and "The Devil in the White City."

Wakanda Over Everything (Special 'Low Key' Podcast Preview)
58m · PublishedWe have a special treat: A bonus episode of "Low Key," the new podcast Tim is making with Aaron Lanton and Keith Dennie. Our first journey with the crew explores the key themes of "Black Panther" that went unnoticed. For example, is there such a thing as a good ethnostate? How does vibranium work as an allegory? Why do people believe Eric Killmonger is more empathetic than T'Challa? Let's go!

Angela Davis: The Anti-Forrest Gump
40m · PublishedAngela Davis was a Black revolutionary professor catapulted to the national stage when California Gov. Ronald Reagan fired her from UCLA in 1969. A year later, she became the third woman ever on the FBI's Most Wanted List.
She has appeared in documentaries like "The Black Power Mixtape" and Ava DuVernay's "13th," but never in a biopic. We think that needs to change.

Make THESE Comics Into Movies (feat. Umberto Gonzales, aka El Mayimbe)
41m · PublishedThis week, we talk about comics that deserve to be movies with TheWrap's comic maestro, Umberto Gonzales - aka @ElMayimbe.
We talk about why Ninjak, Ann Nocenti's X-Men spinoff "Beauty and the Beast" (featuring ex-disco star Dazzler) and Calvin & Hobbes should be movies. And why Dazzler should be played by Janelle Monae, not Taylor Swift.
Here's Ira Madison III's piece on Grace Jones' influence on Dazzler:

On "UnREAL" he plays a reality show producer, so we talk about the greatest reality show ever: MTV's "The Real World" Season 3, when Puck and Pedro Zamora fought for the soul of reality TV. Slenderman Meets 'Black Mirror'
39m · PublishedThis week's episode is inspired by the Slenderman case and "Black Mirror." How do you sentence kids who commit crimes because they can't tell the internet from real life? And is there still a difference?
Also, Matt casually mentions that he used to live in the Hillside Strangler house. No biggie.
Thanks to the Mic Dicta podcast and "Black Mirror" for inspiration.
