Todays Guest - One of the worlds most legendary Video game composers Grant Kirkhope! If you grew up playing games during the era of the Nintendo 64 then chances are you have heard many soundtracks composed by Grant Kirkhope. Donkey Kong 64, Banjo-Kazooie, 007 Golden Eye and many others were all amazing titles where Grant was the man behind designing and developing the soundtracks. Through the world of sound Grant helped bring these amazing games to life by creating unique soundtracks that really give each world, character, game, and item the personality and character that we remember.
During the interview with Grant we talk about the history and story behind the iconic Donkey Kong Rap that dropped some mad bars at the start of the game. We then talk to Grant about some of his experiences as a composer on some of Rare's largest titles from the Nintendo 64 era as well as some of his most recent projects like composing Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle for Nintendo Switch. We end the interview of by learning about how Grant became a composer and his journey to where he is now and end off with some Name That Soundtrack Trivia where we put Grant to the test on naming some of the soundtracks he has created from past games!

Y2KNostalgiK is a talk show created with one goal in mind: to find and talk to the directors, artists, voice actors, musicians, film makers and creators who had a hand in making some of the most nostalgic things from the 90's, 2000's, and today!
To kick off the launch of our new show we have lined up an outstanding roster of guests for our first season including: Jason Paige (Voice of the Original Pokémon Theme Song), Grant Kirkhope (Videogame Composer of Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, and Golden Eye), Tim Hamilton (Director of the iconic House Hippo Commercial), and Ken Tisher (Owner of the Last Blockbuster on Earth)! Each episode consists of an interview were we get to talk to the creators themselves about the stories behind these nostalgic memories!
New episodes will air every Thursday in July starting on July 8th @ 7 P.M CST and will run into August where we will have the season 1 finale followed by a talk about the show going forward! Episodes will be premiered live over on the JustPlainUniverse YouTube channel as well as broadcasted on many of the major Podcasting Platforms for those Podcast listeners!
