UK is supposedly "a model for other white-majority countries"

48m · Published 04 Apr 14:38
The jokes write themselves! Earlier this week The Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities, (a group put together by Boris Johnson's government), the same government that is led by a prime minister who has previously referred to black people as having 'watermelon smiles' and 'piccaninnies' concluded that the UK is supposedly a 'model for other white majority countries'. Essentially the government self marked their own homework and gave it an A*, a clear example of unwarranted self adulation! Interestingly enough, Tony Sewell head of The Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities, has previously stated that 'evidence of institutional racism in the UK is flimsy' and also described the Black Lives Matter demonstrations as a 'lower middle-class revolt'. Join us in this episode as we delve more into this report and it's extremely questionable conclusions.

Join us in this episode as we discuss the scandal surrounding the black relationship 'expert' Derrick Jaxn. Earlier last week, it was revealed that Derrick has had multiple affairs whilst married, this left us scratching our heads as this is the same man that branded t-shirts with the slogan 'black men don't cheat'. Is this hypocrisy at its finest or merely genuine mistakes made by Derrick? How can we as black women protect ourselves from these panderers in disguise? Click on the link to hear all our thoughts!

With this episode we want to end the silence around suicide and mental health in the black community and foster an open dialogue.

43m · Published 14 Mar 21:29
Join us in this episode as we discuss Meghan and Harry's interview and our opinions on the bombshells that were dropped during the tell-all interview. From accusations of racism, concerns about Archie being 'dark' and the alleged dismissal of mental health issues, we touch on it all. Almost two years ago, we touched on the press' relentless trolling on Meghan Markle in a blog post: https://issamovement.co.uk/2019/04/28/the-trolling-of-meghan-markle/ and two years later things have gone from bad to worse.
