S2 Ep13: WTF is Value Economics with Sam LaCrosse

35m · Published 14 Oct 13:00

Today's guest  is Sam LaCrosse, author of Value Economics, The Study of Identity. When I was introduced to Sam, he was described as just a regular guy, “a nobody. He hasn't done anything amazing. He is not extraordinary or impressive. He doesn't even have a Wikipedia entry. He's just an ordinary guy from Cleveland, Ohio, who now lives an ordinary life in Austin, Texas.”

Here’s what’s not so ordinary…Sam got tired of the self-help books falsely telling people they could be anything they want, and he researched and wrote a book to cut through all the hyperbole and put you on a path of self-discovery allowing you to become your most authentic self.

Sam LaCrosse also authors a blog at Dontreadthisblog.com, and hosts Don’t Listen to this podcast.

S2 Ep10: WTF Is Empowered Wellness with Allison Pelot

39m · Published 25 May 09:00

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” —Maya Angelou

This quote opens the book  Finally Thriving - Your Guide to Empowered Wellness, from Allison Pelot who is the guest on this episode.

When I’d gotten a request to have a self described holistic fitness trainer, nutrition and energy coach on the show, my walls immediately went up. I’ve had a lifelong struggle with food addiction, an eating disorder, and body dysmorphia, and have serious issues with the diet and fitness industry for taking advantage of people like me. I was sure she’d be like all the others who just take 500 pages to tell you to use willpower, eat this not that, and exercise more.

Then, I opened my mind, dropped my preconceived ideas and learned some more about Allison and the book. It turns out I really identified with her holistic approach to our wellbeing. In her book, Allison focuses on self care for your physical, mental, and spiritual well being and how to create a self-care wellness routine to nourish every aspect of your life.

Allison Pelot is a dynamic fitness trainer and energy coach specializing in rapid, permanent change through corrective exercise, metabolic nutrition, and energetic alignment. Allison holds a BS in Exercise Science from GA State University and is a certified CHEK (Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiology) Practitioner.  She’s helped countless clients create the body and the life they desire.

S2 Ep9 - WTF Is Getting Unstuck with Maria Lizza Bowen

34m · Published 18 May 12:00

In the personal growth and self-help world, we often hear people talk about being stuck. But what does that really mean and what does it mean to get unstuck? On this episode, you'll meet Maria Lizza Bowen, author of the book “REFLECT - a perspective on understanding your reality and becoming unstuck.”

Maria Lizza Bowen is a Scientist and Director of Oncology Clinical Development with nearly 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry. Her experience includes molecular, chemistry, biochemistry and virology laboratory studies; quality assurance in pharmaceutical manufacturing; and clinical cancer research with a focus on executive leadership, program management, talent management, inspection readiness, quality systems development, and process excellence.

Maria is also an author and a student of life. Growing up surrounded by her compassionate mother’s vast book collection and her father’s simplistically raw yet deep perspective on life, she began reading at a very young age and dedicated a significant portion of her childhood and adult life trying to understand why we’re all here. Maria’s quest for answers resulted in a large collection of books on physics, philosophy, and spirituality, which led her to acquire a different perspective on the curve balls that life has thrown her way.
