What’s in store for 2024? Maybe you’ve seen Christian YouTube channels that post “I hear the Lord saying this about the coming year.” God has a word for you, and I’m excited to share the 3 things He told me we can expect from Him. I’ve learned that a prophetic word can be foretelling or forthtelling. I’m not a “foreteller” I don’t predict the future. But God has gifted me through His Holy Spirit to be a forthteller, which means I speak about things God has already spoken about. I offer insight into the things God revealed long ago through the prophets of old, and I point out what I hear the Lord saying to us today. As a forthteller, I believe God wants us believing and speaking the truth found in Psalm 139. I hear the Lord saying: I am with you to bless you. I am with you to guide you. My husband and I are both preacher’s kids. AKA PKs. We both grew up in church, but our experiences were very different. And so was our understanding of God. I knew Him as a loving Father who had good plans for me and wanted what was best for me. My husband on the other hand came to know God as a condescending, mean judge who would send you to hell for the slightest moral failure. If you were raised with the fear that you might lose your salvation, then you’ll find comfort in this declaration of truth straight from the book of Romans: Nothing can separate me from God’s love. The Apostle Paul had a message for the ancient church in Rome that’s every bit as true for anyone who believes in Jesus today. If you’re going through a hard time right now and you’re wondering if God is punishing you, then I’ve got good news! God is not mad at you. He loves you. Maybe you’ve made wrong choices, maybe you think you deserve punishment, but God is known for His mercy and grace. Grace = receiving the favor and blessings we don’t deserve. Mercy = not getting the punishment we do deserve. I’ve learned that my struggles aren’t because God is mad at me. God allows hardship as a form of discipline, and God disciplines me for my good.
