Dirty Poetry

by Jack Cairn

I talk to people about sex. They come back and tell me they are having more better sex. Listen to a few episodes of Dirty Poetry. It could be you having the more better sex. I'm Jack Cairn, your host for Dirty Poetry. After many years of traveling all over America, I’m back at the ranch for what was supposed to be a quiet retirement. Through the years I’ve had a long series of successful romances, affairs, and marriages. Successful in that they're over, and almost entirely without bloodshed. I've had the great good fortune to have been loved by some amazing women. My manhood has been shaped by these beautiful, brilliant, wondrous women who shared their affections with me. One of the most constant threads throughout my lifetime has been that I’ve been reading erotic literature. Not the picture books. Well OK, maybe a few of the picture books. But primarily erotic novels and short story anthologies. I lost my entire library in Hurricane Harvey. A lot of out of print classics and a few truly rare volumes. A lifetime’s collection. Gone. It was a disaster. I am rebuilding. I want to invite you to come along with me on this adventure of building an erotic library. See the new collections in the Dirty Poets Bookstore, https://shop.aer.io/DirtyPoets It seems that circumstances have come together to make this now, the right thing, in the right place, at the right time. We have all the technology we need. You and I can share intimate moments any place, anytime, but always in the privacy of your own mind. Having been a longtime reader of erotica, I think I’ve grown into the editorial discernment needed to find powerful stories, skillfully written material, from the best and most creative erotic minds. I’m not embarrassed to talk about sex in public. In fact, it appeals to my exhibitionist tendencies. Add into all that, the fact that people have been telling me most of my life that I have a ’late night radio smooth jazz voice’. I’ve always brushed that off, made light of it. I’m finally ready to own it, ready to speak that voice to you in the service of seduction. This has become my life’s calling. I want to invite you to come along with me on this adventure of discovering and exploring the best erotic minds. I want you to share along with me, the power and beauty and grace that the expression of our erotic imagination creates in all of us. Join me on this adventure we call Dirty Poetry. Using the word poetry very loosely of course. See the Dirty Poets Bookstore here: https://shop.aer.io/DirtyPoets https://www.dirtypoets.com/support

Love And Sex With Robots

1h 6m · Published 13 Nov 15:25

And there you have it. Just a taste of this episode of Dirty Poetry,

using the word poetry very loosely, of course. Stay with me for all

the rest.

The title of this episode of Dirty

Poetry - Love and Sex With Robots is intended to commemorate the

annual research conference of the same name, Love and Sex With

Robots. Recent advances in electromechanics, artificial intelligence,

speech recognition technology, have changed the nature of our

relationships to our non human, digital entities. This changing

relationship has raised an entirely new set of questions, that have

in turn, created a whole new field of research. Every year,

researchers and technologists come together in the month of November

to talk about these new questions at the annual Love and Sex With

Robots research conference. Some of them are entirely new questions

that we never thought to ask before. Others are old questions that

now have a newfound importance. Questions like, what does it mean to

give and receive pleasure? And what balance do we as humans need

between the two? Our next story examines just that question. Let's

take a listen.

All Dolled Up written by Shawna Hunter

That was All Dolled Up written by Shawna

Hunter. Shawna Hunter is Canadian from Toronto. Her greatest passion

is BDSM. Interrupted only by her passion for writing erotic short

stories. All Dolled Up is from the erotic short story anthology Love

Taps. Published 2020, in print and available at Dirty Poets

Bookstore.

We live in a time when digital

assistants have become ubiquitous. If you don’t have a Siri or

Alexa digital assistant, you probably know someone who does. There

has been a wave of recent advances in artificial intelligence and

speech technology. Among other things, this will soon allow digital

entities to judge your mood from your vocal inflection and delivery,

and to respond accordingly. Our digital assistants will soon become

full fledged digital companions. Couple that with recent advances in

robotics and electromechanics, it becomes possible that for many of

us, our digital companions will be embodied as android companions.

This raises all the questions of the human relationship to our non

human companions to a whole new level of importance.

As fascinating as all these new

developments are, we should recognize that human erotic fascination

and sexual arousal with machines is not new. For example, Washington

state in the US, a man named Edward Smith says that he has had sex

with hundreds of automobiles. Yes, full copulatory sex with hundreds

of automobiles, a few airplanes and even a helicopter. Not to be

concerned though, he has settled down to the quiet domestic life in a

committed, age appropriate relationship with a 1968 Volkswagen Beetle

that he calls the love of his life. And, there are a whole series of

other stories very much like that. Human sexual fascination with

machines has been in the popular culture for a long time. And as

recently as 2021, when the movie Titane received a controversial

award at the Cannes Film festival. Titane is in part, the story of a

woman impregnated by a Cadillac. She lactates a high viscosity motor

oil. And who can forget when Carmen Diaz had sex with a Ferrari in

the 2013 movie The Counselor written by Cormac McCarthy. Those of us

who go back far enough to remember 1996 will remember the blazingly

erotic movie, entitled “Crash” starring James Spader and Holly

Hunter. That also received a very controversial award at the Cannes

Film Festival. The story that movie was based on comes from the 1973

novel written by J. G. Ballard entitled

Libraries And The Goddesses Who Inhabit Them

41m · Published 27 Oct 22:48

There you have it, the beginning of another episode of Dirty Poetry,

using the word poetry very loosely. This episode is couple of

stories about libraries and librarians. Before we get to the

goddesses who bring life to these hallowed halls, let’s give some

credit to the students and researchers who find their adventures back

in the stacks. Our first story is about a grad student who, in a haze

of exhaustion, discovers what she is really looking for.

Between The Pages by Z.S. Roe

That was Between The Pages written by Z.S. Roe who describes

himself as a book lover, a tea addict and by trade, a glass worker.

Z.S. Row is primarily a poet but nevertheless has 10 published short

stories, the latest being what Grew Before the Sun, which was

published in the Big Book of Orgasms, Volume 2 that came out in 2022.

For many of us who came from a time before there was an internet,

libraries were our window on the world. Like diving into an ocean,

there was always so much more to explore. They were all, large and

small, places that were cherished and revered. They were, and are,

populated by brilliant women. Brilliant women who work so hard at

being contained and proper. But to my eye, they are goddesses who

bring life to hallowed halls. And they are always so much more a

woman than their work allows them to be.

When I was young, I would travel to one of the great libraries,

sometimes several hours on a bus. There were statues by famous

artists at the entrance and great art hung in the halls. The main

reading room was huge, long and cavernous with a high arched and

vaulted ceiling. As you entered there was the scent of old books with

the promise of ancient knowledge for those who would dig. All of it,

free to the people. It was a hallowed and solemn place.

For a time, I would go there every week or two. The subject I was

interested in those days was propulsion units. This caught the

attention of a particular research librarian who set herself on the

hunt for me. I would stop by her desk to pick up her list of

references and the bundle of photocopies she had collected for me

from the latest journals and sometimes even restricted government

research. She was brilliant. And beautiful. When there was occasion

to come around the desk, I could catch the faint flowery springtime

perfume of my librarian mingled with the scent of fresh photocopies

copies on her desk. All of that with the bassnote of old books and

leather that permeated the place. Those memories have not faded.

I do have a confession though, it was not until very recently that

I realized that I am not the only one who has fantasies of the

Goddesses who inhabit libraries. I’m not the only one who thinks

intelligent women are sexy. Who knew? Joe Cocker sings ‘you can

leave your hat on’. Well, as far as I'm concerned, you can leave

your glasses on too. No doubt, the libraries were where my

fascination with intelligent women began.

And speaking of intelligent, interesting women. Our next story is

written by Susannah Indigo. Susanna Indigo is a character in her own

right. She is, and has been for many years, a very active and

prolific erotic short story author. She has edited many erotic short

story anthologies. She founded in 1998 the erotic literary journal

Clean Sheets, which, in it’s day, was a home to many great erotic

writers. She has since co-founded and is currently an editor at Slow

Trains, a general literary journal that covers a wide range of

subjects. Many of today's greatest writers have found a home there.

The next story that I have for you, I read years ago and it...

Shopkeeper Sex

1h 0m · Published 12 Oct 20:51

Stay

with me for this episode of Dirty Poetry. Go ahead. Take it all. The

whole enchilada.

This episode of Dirty Poetry is about shopkeepers who happen to be

big women. Women like sex. Big women like sex. Let's see how that all

turns out. Let's give a listen to our first story.

Small Packages by Tenille Brown

That story, Small Packages was written by Tenille Brown, who

describes herself as a shoe shopping, wine drinking southern writer.

She is an author of erotic short stories who has been at her trade

for quite some time. She's been published in over 30 different erotic

story anthologies among them Fast Girls, Making The Hookup, Best

Bondage Erotica, F Is For Fetish, and the anthology that our stories

in this episode come from, which is entitled Curvy Girls edited by

Rachel Kramer Bustle.

Ms Bustle has edited over 30 erotic story anthologies. Her erotic

short story writing has been published in over 100 anthologies. She's

been an editor at Penthouse on television appearances, and had

regular magazine columns. Our Curvy Girls anthology comes to us from

a name that you probably recognize Rachel Kramer bustle

In this anthology, Curvy Girls, she asked April Flores to write

the forward. In that forward. Ms Flores says, “For the longest time

we've been told the lie that being thin equals being beautiful, happy

and desirable. And somewhere along the line we've also been led to

believe that fat people don't enjoy sex or possibly that we're not

worthy of enjoying sex.” All right, let's back up a little bit

here. April Flores is herself a big beautiful woman and, in addition

to many other things, she is a model and a porn star. In the forward

to Curvy Girls she says, “Women enjoy sex. Fat women enjoy sex. I

am one of those women and have had the extreme privilege of being

able to explore and express my own sexuality within my work. I've

been able to live out many fantasies while making an effort to send

my message of body and size positivity. I am an exhibitionist by

nature and performing in adult films and posing for photographers and

artists has allowed me to expand on my exhibitionism. I've been so

lucky as to have been able to broaden my sexuality by working with a

diverse range of performers who representative variety of races,

gender identities and levels of experience with each shoot. I have

learned from my partner and have been able to take away something

new. In my opinion, confidence is what makes someone attractive. You

have good sex when you feel good about yourself, regardless of your

body size. The characters and curvy girls are enjoying every bit of

their sexuality and I enjoyed experiencing their sexuality too.”

Amen Sister. Confidence is sexy, and we all want to be sexy.

The next story in this episode also from the Curvy Girls anthology

is written by Lolita Lopez. Ms Lopez is actually a serial novelist.

She generally tells her stories in a series of novels. Her writing

style is what she describes as super sexy science fiction. Her titles

include Dead Sexy Dragon, one of the Dragon Heat series, Caught By

Menace, one of the titles from the Grabbed series, Margaritas and

Mayhem from the Holiday Menage series. In 2021 she was invited to a

group writing project with some of today's greatest science fiction

writers that was published under the title Cyborg Redemption. In this

episode of Dirty Poetry, Ms Lopez, known to her friends and fans as

‘Lo’, has written an erotic short story about a big beautiful

woman. Lo is a Texas girl and she's written us a sexy short story

about a shopkeeper in Houston. A baker...

Old Friends, New Sex

And there you have it, just a taste of the Dirty Poetry yet to come.

Stay with me for all the rest of this episode of Dirty Poetry, using

the word poetry very loosely.

Our first story is about a group of old

friends who have known each other for years and years. They've

traveled together and had adventures and have been a part of each

others lives for a long time. They know each other well. They have

for a long time, had a monthly card game. Everything was always

friendly and normal... until tonight... when things got strange.

Let's take a listen.

That was Heads-Up Poker. Written by

Susan Di Placido. Ms Di Placido is a prolific author. She has, to

date, published ten novels and one collection of short stories. Her

stories almost always involve gambling and card playing and many of

them are set in Las Vegas. But regardless of the setting, Ms Di

Placido always manages to work in a lot of steamy spicy sex scenes.

Her work has been recognized and awarded in the literary world. Her

short story, “I, Candy” won the Spirit Award at the 2005 Moon

Dance International Film Festival. Her short story collection,

American Cool won the bronze medal in the 2008 IPPY Awards and it was

a finalist for the 2008 Indie Book Awards. Her novel Shuffle Up and

Deal was nominated for the Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice Award for

Best Erotic Fiction in 2010. Susan Di Placido’s work has been

published in many places. Among them, Maxim Jakubowski’s Mammoth

Book Of Best New Erotica in both volume six and volume seven, Zane's

Caramel Flava, Run Devil Run, Slow Trains Literary Review, Rebellion:

New Voices Of Fiction, Clean Sheets and Susie Bright’s Best

American Erotica 2007, which is where we found our story, Heads-Up

Poker.

Let's take a moment and address the

elephant in the room. Okay, one of the elephants in the room. You

might notice that both of our stories in this episode of Dirty Poetry

are written by women, one of them decidedly lesbian, but both stories

are told from the perspective of heterosexual men. This kind of

gender bending perspective shift is, and always has been, common

among the authors of erotic literature. As readers and listeners,

these stories allow us to walk a mile in someone else’s panties.

And our authors also take an equally joyful turn at that switch. In

fact, part of the beauty of both erotic literature and our own erotic

imagination is, that in the privacy of our own minds, we can all

allow our imaginations, our desires and hungers, to roam freely, to

venture into places that we would never allow to happen in our real

lives. With all of our real life expressions of sexuality that are so

tender, loving, comforting, well... okay, even with the ass slapping,

hair pulling excitement that we want in our real life sexuality,

still there are places, many places that our imagination goes that we

would never allow to see the light of day. Good writers take us to

these forbidden places and bring us safely back again from the

adventures of foreign travel in exotic lands. With our own erotic

fantasies encouraged to take wing, our sexual imaginations are now

allowed to travel to places that are unlikely, improbable. Places

that stretch the boundaries of what sexuality is, and occasionally

even jump the fence into the impossible. Stories that can arouse

possibilities that we would have never imagined. But somehow they

become real for us for just a few brilliant moments in the privacy of

our own minds. It is there, in the privacy of our imagination that we

can begin to discover our own most primal sexual arousals. It is

great writers with their wild tales, with their exotic erotic...

To Watch And Be Watched, The Voyeur And The Exhibitionist

“They fuck all over the house. And I watch.

Lynette spreads her legs on the toilet and pees for Clifton. And I watch.

She sits on his face while he lounges on the couch with an after dinner glass of wine.

I sit on the adjoining couch. And I only get the wine.

But I watch.

I watch, and I stroke myself off into one of the handkerchiefs I purchased the third day”

and then there is this...

“This time he reached between his legs and soaped his balls,

slowly stroking and squeezing them while the soapsuds ran down his leg.

Lauren moved her foot from the floor and brought it up on the bench next to her,

while she bent her knee away from her body, opening herself even wider.

By the time he turned around to face her again she had two fingers buried to the second knuckle.

Seeing the state of his hard cock, she groaned softly and began to pump her fingers

in and out of her wet pussy grazing her clit just enough

to bring her to the edge of coming and keep her there.”

There you have it. Just a taste of what’s to come

in this episode of deliciously Dirty Poetry.

Stay with me for the rest of the episode

and I'll give you the whole enchilada.

The theme of this episode is to watch and be watched. The voyeur and the exhibitionist. Our first story is about a possibility that you might not have considered. In today's world, even with our infinite variety of blended families, even with all of our polyamory and our monogamish relationships, and the multitude of a romantic and erotic and domestic arrangements...

Still... perhaps you might not have considered the possibility of the live-in voyeur.

You'll discover that uncommon arrangement in “Making Myself At Home”, the first story in this episode of Dirty Poetry. This flight of fancy, this ingenious invention, is a product of the soaring mind of the author, Jeremy Edwards.

Jeremy Edwards is the author of what he calls the erotocomedic novels, "The Pleasure Dial" and "Rock My Socks Off" along with the erotic short story collection "Sparked My Moment”.

His stories have appeared in over 50 short story anthologies, including several volumes in the Mammoth Book of Best New Erotica series. The editor of the Mammoth Book erotica series, Maxim Jakubowski says:

“Jeremy Edwards leads the pack of a new scintillating generation of American erotica writers who combine wit and sexiness in equal parts”.

Both of our stories do come from the volume in that series that is entitled “The Mammoth Book Of Quick And Dirty Erotica”, an anthology of very short erotic stories edited by Maxim Jakubowski.

Our second author is an experienced craftsperson in the world of erotic writing. D. L. King has written short stories that have appeared in over 75 different anthologies. Among them, “Best Women's Erotica”, “Best Lesbian Erotica”, “Girl Crazy”, “Frenzy”, “Yes, Ma'am”, “Yes, sir.”, and “The Mammoth Book Of Best New Erotica” from our own editor, Maxim Jakubowski.

In addition, D. L. King has edited 13 anthologies of short stories herself. Among them, “The Harder She Comes, Butch Fem Erotica”. That one was the winner of the Lambda Literary Award and the Independent Publishers Gold Medal.

D.L. King lives in New York City.

The exhibitionist and the voyeur depend on each other for their stimulation. One needs the other and many of us have both the urge to watch and to be watched balanced in us. Many of us can switch from one to the other.

Our second story, “Her Turn”, is a tale of one of those situations that turned from the watched to the watcher.

A Life Of Seductions

40m · Published 20 Aug 03:15

The reading in this episode of Dirty Poetry is entitled “A Life Of Seductions” written by Nancy Sasha Long. This is an erotic short story that appeared in the anthology Seductions, Tales Of Erotic Persuasions edited by Dr Lonnie Barbach. Our editor, the good Dr Barbach has this to say in the introduction;

“When I think about the most erotic moments of a sexual experience, I am drawn to the delicious and unpredictable build up, the dance of seduction.
A sexual experience often lodges in the memory most vividly because of the events that led up to the actual physical lovemaking.
The invitation to sensually, provocatively play, the anticipation of an experience charged with pleasure and delight.
Consequently, I have gathered a collection of stories that emphasis these openings, stories that set the stage for the sexual encounters that follow.
Seduction is the kindling of romance. It ignites the spark of sexual desire and intensity.
Unfortunately, the art of seduction becomes a lost art in many long term monogamous relationships, although it is usually an important part of nearly every courtship.
This is a tragic loss because in its absence, relationships can become deprived of sexual liveliness and passion.
The connection becomes humdrum, The mundane creeps in and the relationship is diminished.
The word seduction comes from the latin term meaning to lead away. In every seduction, some psychological or emotional resistance is implied and must be overcome.
The resistance may be something as simple as the preoccupation and routines of everyday life, or it may be as complex as a romantic involvement with another.
In either case, one person begins to entice the other, drawing his or her attention away from its current focus and onto a new agenda.
Yet every seduction is a cooperative venture. Ultimately both partners must be willing to play the escalating erotic game.
At any point, one person could abdicate or drop out. The seduced could rebuff the seducer’s advances and the interaction would end.
In humans, romantic pathways are more extensive and complex than in any other species.
We alone use fantasy and imagination as an important part of our seductive encounter.
We have the capacity to raise seduction to a form of art though we are still animals.
Our brains have been programmed to respond to someone that we are attracted to through a physiological chain of events that heightens feelings of pleasure in both the seducer and the one being seduced.
When someone excites us, our bodies respond with a gush of natural chemicals that stimulate the nervous system, causing us to feel euphoric, energetic and optimistic.
Our hearts be wildly. We’re turned on and maybe following in love, or at least in lust.
We may experience a racy sense of exuberance and power at these times, with some creative thoughts and attention.
An artful seduction can create a surge of natural chemicals even in a relationship of long duration. We never lose our capacity to resurrect these pleasurable experiences.
It remains with us for our entire lives.”

Our story tonight is the story of a woman who's fantasies become so constant, so all consuming,
that she is drawn into dangerous situations in real life and ultimately becomes an entirely different woman because of her fantasies.

Our editor, Dr Barbach and the author, Nancy Long had this to say about our story;

“Rather than moving towards someone, the motivation behind some seductions is to escape from a certain set of circumstances.
When life is depressing or distressing, when a relationship is having difficulties,
we may find ourselves moving away from a drab or uncomfortable reality, seeking relief through an illicit sexual relationship or seductive daydream.
We may seduce ourselves with a fantasy and create the perfect lover who will rescue us from the emptiness...

Written by Rick Moody from Brooklyn New York, who is extensively published with a series of novels. This is the title story from his short story collection.

Our second story is about sexuality informed by midwestern American farm life and occasionally inspired by farm animals. Our reading is an excerpt from the Pulitzer prize winning novel "A Thousand Acres" written by Jane Smiley from Ames Iowa.
