Don't Stop Beerlieving Episode 7 - Taste and See the Goodness of Beer

26m · Published 12 Feb 05:00

Michael and Chris catch up, with Michael briefly giving a glimpse to his next homebrewing project. They retouch on Michael's beer psychology experience over the past week. Michael then does a live taste test of a friend's Black Saison, a French farmhouse style beer, giving you listeners a good base experience as to how a training cicerone might evaluate a beer. Chris questions how the process works, and the guys are able to meet in the middle to help understand how it works. Michael recommends the Beer Judge Certification Program app as a supplemental resource while tasting beer. Let us know how you evaluate your beer!

Finally, Michael runs the gauntlet again for the second rendition of Tripel B, or Blindfolded Beer Badge. They encourage you all to try this one! Then, we're looking forward to next week when we're looking at Valentine's Day beer.

Don't Stop Beerlieving Episode 6 - Mind Over Matter

22m · Published 05 Feb 05:00

Michael gives his tasting notes for Order to Chaos, a Flanders Brown Ale (Oud Bruin) from Sapwood Cellars. That's right, Beerlievers. Michael actually brought some of this beer home to try for y'all and it's a 5/5, a 10/10, a high recommend. Chris takes a stab at giving his own beer review. The boys introduce Beer Psychology, a notion that is being spearheaded by Asa Stone, New Mexico's only Advanced Cicerone, and Chris gives his own experience with this idea. What are your thoughts on beer psychology? Have you experienced yourself making interesting decisions or discoveries when drinking or purchasing your beer?

Don't Stop Beerlieving Episode 5 - Got Beer?

26m · Published 29 Jan 05:00

The guys talk a little about the current beer climate, especially how Big Beer's "Got Beer?" project pitted the big hitters against each other, arguably to the detriment of the market as a whole. They talk about what it means to "make it" as an independent craft brewery. Michael showcases his beer from last week's challenge: Grisette by Manor Hill Brewing in Ellicott City, Maryland. This beer is light and refreshing with a dry finish. It's low hop bitterness and mild effervescence lend to an overall pleasant mouthfeel and experience.

Don't Stop Beerlieving Episode 3 - Christmas Time is Here!

31m · Published 15 Jan 05:00

Michael gets a new hat and Chris gives the highlights of the episode. The Christmas Beer challenge is addressed. Michael fails his first beer challenge but later redeems himself in the new segment, Triple B. We review "2XMas" by Southern Tier Brewing Company and discuss the holiday beer trend. Michael talks about beer and food pairing, a very important component of enjoying beer to the fullest and is an important segment in Cicerone studies. They then move on to the first new segment of the podcast, Triple B, which stands for Blindfolded Beer Badge, where Michael blind tastes 2 beers of same or similar style and tries to guess which one's which. This week he had Hop Sounds by Singlecut Beersmiths, a crushable and refreshing IPA which the creators actually identify as a Kolsch vs. Mandarin Galaxy by Vasen Brewing, a fruity DIPA. Finally, you guys are given your homework, the Don't Stop Beerlieving weekly challenge!
