Hello there! We’re back! In episode 6 we’re honored to talk with the incredible Beverly McIver. She is widely recognized for her skill in painting and her uncompromising dedication to exploring the personal. She is currently the Esbenshade Professor of the Practice of Art, Art History and Visual Studies at Duke University. Beverly’s latest exhibition opens at SECCA on January 17 and runs until February 12. She will be included in an exhibition at The American Academy of Arts and Letters this spring and one of her portraits was recently purchased by the National Portrait Gallery.

If you don't know Brandon Cordrey then I feel sorry for you. He's a skilled painter and multi-media artist as well as a tireless arts administrator. In episode 5 we talk to Brandon about his work and what's going on at VAE Raleigh (where he's the new Executive Director). He recently had two great shows in Raleigh at Flanders Gallery and Block Gallery, both in 2016. We can't wait to see what's next!

In Episode 4 we are honored to speak with Durham-based performance artist and friend of the show, Stacey Kirby. Kirby just returned from ArtPrize Eight in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she was awarded the Grand Jury Prize for her performative interactive work, The Bureau of Personal Belonging.

Episode 3 - Heather Gordon

54m · Published 13 Sep 02:00
In episode 3 we talk to Heather Gordon. I'm truly in awe of her work and the way she approaches making art. Hopefully you're already familiar with her work. As you'll hear, she is constantly expanding parameters and thought processes and frequently working in collaborations. All the while, her work remains lyrical and deeply personal.

Episode 2 - Carrie Alter

1h 8m · Published 18 Aug 02:56
In our first full-length episode I interview the talented Carrie Alter. She's a terrific painter, drawer, photographer as well as an arts educator. We originally envisioned this as a test run – a chance to work out the kinks and learn the process. After our first listen, we knew that it would be a mistake to try to recreate the conversation.
