Pioneering energy storage with Connected Energy's Matthew Lumsden

12m · Published 09 May 10:21

Advances in battery technology have played a major role in the car industry's shift towards electric vehicles. Whilst batteries have become more efficient and affordable, they typically become redundant when their capacity falls by just 25%. That’s why reuse in other applications is essential to maximising the environmental benefits of EVs. Connected Energy's pioneering energy storage solution almost doubles the life of an EV battery's lifespan.

In this latest podcast, the second instalment of our low-carbon transport series, Ali Naini, a managing director at Turquoise, interviews Matthew Lumsden, founder and CEO of Connected Energy.

Spark EV's Justin Ott talks intelligent range prediction

10m · Published 24 Mar 14:52

The global automotive industry is undergoing a monumental change with the shift from internal combustion engines to electric vehicles.

It’s a topic that is being discussed in Brussels at the Future of Transport Conference. One of the big challenges for drivers of electric cars is range anxiety: how far can they travel before they need to stop and charge up? It's an issue that puts off many from buying an electric car.

But for trucks, the challenge of predicting range is arguably more important and it's firmly on the agenda of global haulage firms looking to upgrade their fleets to electric.

In this episode, Turquoise International's Managing Director Ian Thomas spoke to Justin Ott, founder and CEO of Spark EV, a company, that was set up to help car and truck makers accurately determine journey times and distances.
