BOndWOB #04 - Quantum of Solace (2008)

1h 57m · Published 24 Dec 12:00

After Daniel Craig's more serious take on Bond, after the invisible car silliness of Die Another Day, led to a classic of the series in 2006's Casino Royale. As is so often the case, the producers double down on the seriousness and the Bourne-inspired shaky cam action. But it all turns into a bit of a mess.

Joining Lorcan and Thom is the comedian and writer Tom Mayhew

BOndWOB #03 - Die Another Day (2002) (with Andy Hughes)

1h 50m · Published 23 Dec 12:00

In many ways, Pierce Brosnan was the perfect physical emobodiment of what James Bond would look like if you were asked to imagine him. But his legacy is at best a mixed bag, and Die Another Day was a very unfortunate way for him to have to bow out.

For this episode, Lorcan and Thom are joined by Andy Hughes of the Dinosaur Man podcast

BOndWOB #02 - Octopussy (1983) (with Mary Flanigan)

1h 20m · Published 22 Dec 12:00

Roger Moore may be the most easily ridiculed Bond, but he is also the man who proved that Bond could continue and thrive without Sean Connery in the title role, which means he more than anyone else is probably the reason why the film series has gone on for as long as it has, and will continue to do so for the forseeable future.

Unfortunately, Moore stuck around far too long, and is a visibly crackly man of his mid-fifties by the time this frequently ludicrous caper involving a team of lady ninjas that may have originally been gap year students, undercover clown costumes, and the bright idea of flying a hot air balloon of the union jack invading Indian territory.

Joining Lorcan and Thom this time is the wonderful comedian Mary Flanigan.

BOndWOB #01 - Diamonds Are Forever (1971) (with Aaron Twitchen)

1h 37m · Published 21 Dec 12:00

Lorcan and Thom co-host a mini-series of discussions on the worst of the (EON) Bond films, starting with Sean Connery's brief return to the role, after his initial departure after You Only Live Twice.

BOWOB - 03x06 - Zardoz (1974)

1h 19m · Published 17 Dec 12:00
If Michael ever turns full-on supervillain, then his watching of 'Zardoz' will probably be his origin story.

BOWOB - 03x05 - The Mother (2003)

1h 17m · Published 16 Dec 12:00
Before he was bedding every lady in sight as James Bond, Daniel Craig was hooking up with a recently widowed woman in her 60s whilst also dating said widow's daughter, who first appears to be an insufferable moron but turns out to be Sherlock fucking Holmes.

BOWOB - 03x04 - Take Me High (1973)

1h 39m · Published 15 Dec 12:00
Cliff Richard opens a burger bar in 1970s Birmingham. If that doesn't convince you to listen to this episode worth, I don't know what will. A bribe? Sorry, I spent all my money (and then some) on the stage rights to 'Take Me High' immediately after we recorded this episode. I'll be the next Cameron Mackintosh and Andrew Lloyd-Webber combined in that teleportation device from 'The Fly'! Only even sexier than that sounds.
