Ep. 190: Voice Controlled Games! Oh The Frustrations!

34m · Published 20 May 09:00
Voice control has become a common place item in our day to day lives. With things like Alexa and Siri we are using our voice to turn on lights, search the internet, send messages and find out what song that just was. But when it comes to games voice controls have always been tricky if not just down right broken. But thats not without trying. For a small while there voice controlled games were coming out and testing the boundaries of this technology. But it was quickly realized that this may not really have a place in the world of games. From Hey You Pikachu's complete disregard to what you are saying to the existential ramblings of Seaman it just always felt out of place. So, lets dive into this bizarre mechanic that leaves gamers screaming (even more than usual). -------- Follow the link bellow to go to our various socials and be sure to join the Discord to talk with us and the community directly. Ep.189: Cultural Representation In Games!

32m · Published 13 May 09:00
For years we only had a few viewpoints in the world of gaming when it came to story telling. Year after year we were shown the same viewpoint of WWII through ever evolving graphics. But now we are starting to get new story tellers in games and are finally able to see the world through different lenses. Game like T'challa are giving us a slice of life from New Caledonia, or Saviorless showing us the struggles of game development in Cuba. Or now Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is introducing us to rich lore and heart gripping stories from Abubakar Salim's Kenyan heritage. It is amazing to see these classic genres through different viewpoints. -------- Follow the link bellow to go to our various socials and be sure to join the Discord to talk with us and the community directly. Ep. 186: Are Games Loosing Their Fun?

33m · Published 22 Apr 09:00
There is a common thread that we have brought up many times. Games are changing and forever evolving. But there is something that remains a constant, and that is we want our games to be fun. Although the level of fun in games seems to be dropping with our new larger games. There is something to be said about simple games that it is easier to see the fun in them. Games were made to be shared and enjoyed with friends in groups like at arcades or in schools. Now that games have become an individual experience, has the fun gone with them? -------- Follow the link bellow to go to our various socials and be sure to join the Discord to talk with us and the community directly. Ep. 185: The Problem With Reviews & Metacritic

43m · Published 15 Apr 09:00
The state a gaming reviews needs a change. The number system just does not work and too many big critics out there are reviewing game genres that they do not even like. So, we are getting biased reviews and only large games with big budgets are getting the attention when many smaller titles that are evolving their respective genre are being left behind. There has to be a better way. And maybe, just maybe there already is one out there in practice. -------- Follow the link bellow to go to our various socials and be sure to join the Discord to talk with us and the community directly. Ep. 184: Evolution Of Demos!

36m · Published 08 Apr 09:00
Demos have changed so much over the years. From the disks you would get in the back of a magazine, or the ones you could get from pizza hut; to now with early access or the ability to play a game for x amount of hours. But the question is do demos still have that. same magic they. once had. They used to be an event or something to look forward to. Now they fall a little flat sometimes and some games feel as if they are making us the players their own personal QA team. Needless to say things have changed. -------- Follow the link bellow to go to our various socials and be sure to join the Discord to talk with us and the community directly.
