Postpartum Anxiety

36m · Published 22 Apr 13:00

We hear so often of Postpartum Depression but rarely are educated and informed on the many other Postpartum Mood Disorders that new mothers encounter.  Join me and Perinatal Mental Health Expert, Abbie Hausermann as we discuss Postpartum Anxiety.
** Disclaimer: Zoom had a few hiccups on this episode so hang in there for us! **

Abbie is a licensed mental health therapist and Board Certified in Perinatal Mental Health.  After a difficult labor that ended in an emergency c-section, she quickly realized that this was not how she envisioned the beginning of her journey into motherhood. Thrown by that experience, among other circumstantial changes, she too struggled with postpartum anxiety and depression. Since the birth of her oldest son nearly five years ago, Abbie has devoted her professional career to supporting women through their pregnancy and postpartum journeys. Her mission is to bridge the gap between perinatal care and what the dark spaces of postpartum can look like.  Helping women everywhere find their footing during what can be a very fragile time.

Happy Hour: The Pressures of Perfection

37m · Published 08 Apr 15:00

In this Happy Hour episode I am joined by Anneliese King, the beautiful word-wizard  behind @shittymommymoments on Instagram and the Co-founder of Noble Newborn.  Listen in as we discuss the pressures of perfection in Motherhood and be sure to grab a drink (responsibly of course!)

Anneliese started @shittymommymoments in an effort to normalize the imperfect moments of motherhood. Motherhood is filled with shitty moments and bad days, but that doesn’t mean we are shitty moms. Shitty Mommy Moments is about supporting moms through laughter and real talk, and putting a stop to the notion that your house, your hair, or your mental health should appear perfectly intact at all times in order to be a good mom to your kids.
She lives in Pittsburgh, PA with her husband and their 3 boys (ages 1, 3 and 7.)  When she is not chasing her kids around or helping her husband run their luxury baby product company Noble Newborn, she is drinking wine, writing sweary memes or working on her blog.

Mom Guilt & Learning to say "No" more

17m · Published 18 Mar 15:00

The journey of Motherhood is a beautiful, exhausting, and hilarious journey, but it comes with a lot of crap too.  Each direction we turn we are hit hard with "Mom Guilt."   Society, social media, and magazines are constantly telling or selling us on how we should parent and with that comes this toxic comparison that makes us question our decisions as a Mom.   Join me in this episode to break down what "Mom Guilt" is, why we experience it and how to push through it.

The Rollercoaster of Postpartum Depression

38m · Published 11 Mar 16:00

We are told so many times that our mood changes are just "Baby Blues" time and time again.  You shake it off and push through but there is something in your gut that is telling you that the feelings and thoughts you are having are not the real YOU.  Postpartum depression or PPD is extremely common but it's not something you have to struggle though alone or without resources.

In this episode I am joined by one of my closest friends, Ashley Bokern.  Ashley works as a Women's Health and Obstetric Nurse over the last 5 years.  She is a "girl mom" to Lily (4) and Josie (2), fur mom of two Australian Cattle Dogs and a Wisconsin native.  During this show she comes on to share both her professional and personal experience with Postpartum Depression.

*If you or someone you know is struggling with PPD we strongly encourage you to reach out for support and find local resources that are equipped and ready to help and guide you during this time.  You are NOT alone! *

Identity Crisis & Motherhood

47m · Published 01 Mar 18:00

Becoming a Mom is a beautiful thing but let's face it...so many of us come face to face with not knowing who we are as individuals anymore.  Having to say "goodbye" to many aspects of who we are and embracing all the new changes head on and with a forced smile at times.

In this episode I am joined by a wonderful woman, Nina Meehan who was bold enough to ask me if I was looking for guests!  Nina is the CEO and Founder of Bay Area Children's Theatre and mom to Toby (12), Robby (9) and Meadow (5).  She is an internationally recognized arts educator and award-winning director.  She is a big believer in making parenting easier by infusing creativity into your family life.

Back for episode 2!?  This episode I am joined by one of my best friends, Maddy Jachim. She and her husband have two little ones and a quirky golden retriever in Southern California!  Maddy works full-time as an HR Manager at a bio-tech company and loves having a good laugh at the constant (daily) struggle of balancing a professional career, a loving marriage and the beauty of Motherhood.  Join us as we share some of the many things in parenthood that we wish we knew before having kids.  Pregnancy, post delivery....hormones....etc.
