War and Books: A Marine's Odyssey From Grunt to Author
1h 11m · Published
Not even 18-years-old, but inspired by tales of war from books about Marines and ancient, epic poems, Kacy Tellessen joined the Marines to serve his country overseas. When he returned from war, the transition to civilian life wasn't easy, to say the least. However, the self-proclaimed "Book Nerd" found his post-war purpose in the very thing that began his journey: Books. KHQ's Cory Howard sits down for an in-depth interview with Spangle-native, Marine, and author of "Freaks of a Feather: A Marine Grunt's Memoir", Kacy Tellessen.
Spokane Protest and Riots on May 31st: The view from Spokane Police
22m · Published
Welcome to another Q6 Extra. I'm Kevin Kim and today, we're talking about Sunday - two Sunady's to be specific: May 31 and June 7. I sat down with Spokane Police Sergeant Terry Preuninger at the Spokane County courthouse, where most of this past Sunday's peaceful protest took place. I wanted to understand what officers on the ground were going through, what they were seeing, and what we can all do as a community to make sure violence doesn't occur again.
We talked about May 31, including the peaceful protest, mentality of law enforcement throughout the day and night, and what led to the looting and riots that night.
We also talked about this upcoming Sunday, June 7. Another peaceful protest is planned, just like May 31... but what needs to be done, so the night of May 31 doesn't happen again? Listen to our full conversation in the podcast below.
