Loving Money: the Podcast with Leisse Wilcox

by leissewilcox

How would earning 6 figures make you feel? Statistics show that only 25% of women who make this amount feel safe, secure and confident. Now I’m on a mission to boost this number. I’m one of the 9% who makes six figures, and I got to where I am while being a single parent and going through chemotherapy and an expensive divorce. For as long as I remember, I’ve been helping my clients increase their revenue. Even when women came to me to improve their relationship with themselves, they also increased their self-worth and net worth. And that’s why I’m here — to help you close the gap between the two.

How To Delineate Self Help From Self Harm with Sarah Edmondson

1h 14m · Published 12 Mar 09:00

Today I am sharing an incredible conversation that I had the privilege of having with Sarah Edmondson.

Sarah is a talented actress with a radiant smile and natural charm. She has an exceptionally diverse portfolio of interests, and dedicates herself with limitless energy and positivity to the worlds of acting and yoga.

In 2005, when NXIVM, a personal and professional development company, promised to provide the tools and insight Sarah needed to reach her potential, she was intrigued. Over her twelve-year tenure, she went from student to coach and eventually operated her own NXIVM center in Vancouver. Questions kept coming up about the organization’s rules and practices, which came to a head in 2017 when she accepted an invitation from her best friend to join DOS, a “secret sisterhood” within NXIVM.

In 2019, Sarah published Scarred: The True Story of How I Escaped NXIVM, the Cult that Bound My Life, with Kristine Gasbarre. In this tell-all memoir, she shares her story from the moment she takes her first seminar to her harrowing fight to get out of NXIVM, collaborate with the FBI, help others, and heal.

In today's episode we talk all about;

  • Sarah's experiences being in a cult and the courage she had to leave
  • Being able to recognize the difference between self help and self harm
  • Sarah's path to healing past trauma and settling into who she really is
  • And so much more!

This conversation is definitely one you're going to want to listen to. So grab some tacos and let's dive in, okay?!

How to Reframe Success with Dr. Nicolya Williams

41m · Published 05 Feb 10:00

"I think we need to decondition all the things we've been conditioned to have; the 2.5 kids, white picket fence, and a spouse, in a job that you work until you're 65, that you're supposed to be happy, and then retire and enjoy your retirement for 10 or 15 or 20 years."

Join me today as I chat with Dr. Nicolya Williams, a life coach and best selling author. When I met Nicolya she said something that really took my breathe away and that was that she had interviewed 23 different women, and they each had a different definition of success. So today on How to be a Human, we're talking honestly all about how to reframe our definition of success!

The Myth of Competition

27m · Published 31 Jul 03:00

"Too often we are conditioned to feel the need to be in constant competition. There's a misguided perception that being who we are, AS we are, in business, life and love won't be enough until we prove we are better than someone else and maybe not even then."

The myth around competition is a topic I have spoken on before and one that I feel is extremely important, I wrote a chapter all about it in my book, To Call Myself Beloved. So for today's episode I decided to read this actual chapter to you, not just because I am so excited for my book baby to be born, but because I am so passionate about this topic.

I get pretty fired up in this one everyone.  I touch on some really key points, such as:

  • The root of where our intense need to compete with others actually comes from
  • Why the phrase "collaboration over competition" being used on social media makes me nauseous and feel a whole lot of swear words.
  • How competition all stems back to doing the work on loving YOURSELF, accepting yourself, and not seeking outward approval when you are winning.
  • And so much more!

I hope you all enjoy today's episode and if you haven't ordered your copy of my book yet, WHY NOT? (lol link is below, darling...).  Don't forget to head over to leissewilcox.ca and sign up to join my virtual Launch Party on August 11th when my book hits the charts!
