#19 Saying Goodbye to 2017 and Goals for 2018

57m · Published 27 Dec 00:00

This our last episode of the 2017! This year has seen some twists and turns to say the least. When this year started, I had ambitions of pushing this podcast as far as I could, and turning it into a regularly occurring thing, hopefully building a following along with that. I was hoping I could find ways to monetize it and make a little money for all of the effort I was putting into editing it, as well as booking guests and preparing interview questions. While all that stuff can be enjoyable, it does take a lot of time. As we can see now, that stuff didn't really come to fruition. Other life circumstances got in the way, and I also decided to start pursuing an audio business. Priorities changed, and this podcast became the odd man out. We are still going to keep doing it, but we will change how we do things from here on out. We will release one episode per month, as this will now just be a low pressure, strictly for fun show only. We will occasionally have a guest, if it's not too much hassle to do so. Lastly, we will shut down our website and simply maintain a Facebook page (www.facebook.com/eldpodcast).We want to thank you for listening this year. It has been fun! We will once again return in January.

#18 Catching Up on Air

1h 5m · Published 01 Dec 00:00

Danny and Nick return after about almost 2 months without an episode. They discuss the future of the podcast, upcoming projects in their life, and what endeavors they are working toward for the new year, 2018. The usual banter is there too. Thanks for listening!

#17 Shawn Kuiper, Arborist and Entrepreneur, Joins the Show For an In-Person Interview

1h 34m · Published 13 Oct 00:00

We are glad to have had our friend Shawn Kuiper join our show for an in-person interview. We don't get to do too many of these in-person, so we really appreciate the ones that are. Shawn is an entrepreneur with a vegetation management business. We discuss some wide ranging topics from entrepreneurship, to societal changes in how we buy stuff, and even get into the weeds a little bit (pardon the pun) about how his business operates. We basically let Shawn have the floor to discuss whatever was on his mind. Those can be some of the best kinds of interviews. Enjoy!

#16 Downsizing + Nick Starts a Podcast

1h 4m · Published 26 Sep 00:00

We return from another break! Danny talks about how this podcast is less of a priority, and Nick discusses how he is starting a podcast for his whip business. More philosophical stuff happens too. Enjoy!

#8 Steven Burkholder - Songwriter, Lead Singer from The War on Peace

1h 16m · Published 12 Aug 00:00

We are excited to re-release this interview we did with Steven Burkholder from the War on Peace! We first conducted this interview with him in early 2016, when this podcast was in its first form and not yet reinvented. We thought the content of this episode was so good that it was still worth keeping, as well as still being relevant. We sat down with Steven to discuss how his band the War on Peace works, and go behind the scenes of some of their signature songs. One of them is going to be featured in a major motion picture, so that's really cool! Be sure to go to check out their music, and even make it to a show if you're around the area.

#15 Our Return From a Long Break, Once Again Talking Careers and Idealism

1h 17m · Published 12 Aug 00:00

After an extended break (due to the craziest work schedule ever), we are back! Since we last left off, some changes have happened for both Danny and Nick. The podcast is likely going to happen less often due to a shift in priorities. We will still keep this going as often as we are able, but we will probably find it difficult to keep it consistent. That being said, we will still make an effort to bring on guests who will contribute to the ideas contained in our theme.

This episode is really just our candid thoughts, with virtually no editing. I thought I would let this go out like this to let it be authentic. Some topics covered included our jobs, what we like and don't like about them, how to transition into a career you are satisfied with, etc. Also, just random stuff. This is about as unfiltered as we have been so far. Enjoy.

#6 Recap of the Los Angeles Whip Convention + Poetry!

1h 9m · Published 12 Aug 00:00

We are excited to welcome Luke back (even if only for this episode)! This episode was the first time we sat down to record in this new year, 2017. Nick and Luke started off the new year by traveling to California for the Los Angeles Whip Convention, hosted by world famous whip cracker Adam Winrich. Nick and Luke were in LA from January 13-16. We kick things off by discussing the concept of New Year's Resolutions, and if we have any ourselves. We then delve into the specifics of the activities that took place at the convention, and also discuss why anyone would even care about it. Lastly, we wrap things up with an evocative poem from Luke, which spontaneously produces a discussion on the philosophical meaning of what truth is, and the differing levels of it. If you're listening on Soundcloud, don't forget to subscribe on iTunes and Stitcher! Thanks for listening.

#5 Christoffer Franzen of Lights & Motion

1h 28m · Published 12 Aug 00:00

We are very excited to welcome one of my personal favorite songwriters! Christoffer Franzen is a songwriter and composer from Gothenburg, Sweden. He composes music under two different names: Lights & Motion, and his own name. Lights & Motion is a project in the genre of post rock/ambient rock. His eponymously named project is in the genre of soundtrack compositions, much like you would hear in a movie trailer or a TV show. Listen in as we discuss how he got started in music, how he got inspired to do his current projects, and how approaches his craft. You're going to love this one! Make sure you're subscribed on iTunes so you don't miss out on more great episodes in the future.
