Embrace the Challenges

4m · Published 17 Nov 09:30

Welcome to the Inspired Teacher podcast! If you're anything like me you might be feeling a little tired and low on energy right now. As a result, I've been finding myself spending too much time looking at external things and, as much as I hate to admit it, complaining about them. Today's episode has some great reminders from Ryan Holiday in his bookThe Obstacle is the Way: The Timeless Art of Turning Trials into Triumph.

It's About How You Show Up

6m · Published 08 Nov 09:30

Welcome to the Inspired Teacher podcast! I had the opportunity to sit in a great discussion today in an in-service all about student behaviors, expectations and what we might be able to do to help many of our students learn to "school" again. My takeaway from this discussion might have been different form others--I figure that as long as I'm doing my best to live by my values as an educator and helping my students to do their best, I can't go wrong. This mindset has helped take pressure off me and it came from an episode ofThe School of Greatness Podcast in which host Lewis Howes interviewed Ph.D. and psychologist Dr. Joan Rosenberg. I hope you enjoy!

Be Positive

0s · Published 06 Nov 09:30

Welcome to the Inspired Teacher podcast! I took an unexpected week off last week, but that's okay, it's time to get back on the horse and record some more! I sat down to record last week but just wasn't in the mental space to record today's message and I always want this podcast to be an authentic message, so I didn't do it. However, after a week and some reflection it's time to follow the advice of Jon Gordon from this post on X & just be positive.

Slow Down

Welcome to the Inspired Teacher podcast! Fall is always a crazy time of year for me and I once again feel myself getting stressed and harried. Today's message is a good reminder for me and anyone that might be feeling like me. The thoughts were inspired by Steve Moakler's song "Slow Down" and come from Ed Mylett's bookThe Power of One More: The Ultimate Guide to Happiness and Success.

Be Authentic, Be a Leader

7m · Published 25 Oct 08:30

Welcome to the Inspired Teacher podcast! Today's episode is all about being authentically you so you can be the leader others might need. The inspiration for today's episode came from Phil Kornachuk in an interview by Michael Gervais on his Finding Mastery podcast.

Life is Like a Sparkler

8m · Published 23 Oct 09:01

Welcome to the Inspired Teacher podcast! After a short break because of an insanely busy life and the success of my Phillies, I finally got behind the mic to record again. This episode is a little different--I had no show notes or outlines prepared and the inspiration didn't come from a podcast or a book. Instead, the inspiration for this episode was something my 11-year old son said to me in the truck on the way home from wrestling practice. I hope you enjoy it--I was seriously impressed with him!

Be Excited

9m · Published 11 Oct 08:30

Welcome to the Inspired Teacher podcast! Today's episode is a bit longer than the recent ones and I think it's because I really enjoy the message. I was recently listening to an episode of one of my fovorite podcasts, PodcastPD and it made me think of a message in an email I get each week from James Clear. Be sure to subscribe to the podcast & the email--you can thank me later.

It's About Growth

0s · Published 06 Oct 08:30

Welcome to the Inspired Teacher podcast! If I'm being honest I would have to say that I often struggle with finding the balance between trying to become a better version of myself and being content with who I am. That being said, chapter 11 in Jon Gordon's book Training Camp: What the Best Do Better Than Everyone Elsereally hit home with me. I hope you enjoy this quick discussion and check out the book!

Your Results Are Not Your Identity

6m · Published 04 Oct 08:30

Welcome to the Inspired Teacher podcast! Today's episode was inspired by a tough conversation I had with my son that made me incredibly proud of him and some thoughts from Lewis Howes and his bookThe Greatness Mindset: Unlock the Power of Your Mind & Live Your Best Life Today.

What is Positivity?

4m · Published 02 Oct 08:30

Welcome to the Inspired Teacher podcast! Maybe you're like me now that we're entering the month of October and your motivation is starting to wane just a bit. As the days get shorter and the realization that we're back in school for real sets in, I often struggle to remain positive during this time of year. Join me as I discuss Jon Gordon's take on positivity that he recently shared on X.
