Episode 16. Celebrating Chief Ebenezer Remilekun Olasupo Obey Fabiyi
11m · PublishedThere are excellent people in this world today that we take for granted and fail to celebrate while they are alive. In the Global Perspective initiative, I intend to identify great people that have impacted lives in unlikely and unnoticeable ways and commemorate them. But, most importantly, when they are alive, they can hear us say good things about them, not in a sycophantic way but as a matter of fact. So, for one reason or the other, I felt led to celebrate Chief Fabiyi.

10m · PublishedI join millions of people to celebrate the life and time of Colin Luther Powell, a man I watched with a keen interest for more than twenty-five years. General Powell was among the individuals that I watched, followed, and paid attention to even though at a far distance. But unfortunately, I could not meet him until his death, just like I painfully could not meet Senator John McCain.

10m · PublishedKnowledge Life helps people in their quest for self-discovery to discover who you are and your hidden potentials and capacities that you did not imagine you ever had. The talents you never knew you had. The impediments to self-discovery have always been insecurity, self-doubt, low self-esteem, and looking for an external approver. In addition, a lack of self-development at every stage of human endeavor can also be an impediment. So, for self-discovery, seeking knowledge, and getting an education, I mean continuous education by reading widely and moving from known areas to unknown ones.

12m · PublishedIn the last episode, I talked about Knowledge life. However, further thoughts on the topic bring me to declutter. Knowledge life should lead to people getting rid of unimportant things in life, which if not removed could lead to a burden, unnecessary weight, load, and a big distraction to a good and quality life.

8m · PublishedThe Global Perspective initiative is about knowledge-based life. Recent global events with false and incorrect information going around like wildfire with millions believing are troubling. My thinking is that when people have the necessary information, they will tend to ignore falsehood. Although no one in this world can be self-sufficient in knowledge, people start learning from birth. Recent research suggests that babies begin to absorb language inside the womb during the last ten weeks earlier than previously determined (Mann, 2013).

11m · PublishedIn clear terms, accent gives everyone away. Although some people have the gift and the ability to change how they talk flawlessly to adapt to the host community or environment, I do not have such a gift. Accents are inherent and primarily affected by where one grows up. Merriam Webster dictionary defines accent as "a distinctive manner of expression: such a way of speaking typical of a particular group of people and especially of the natives or residents of a region." So, it then means that it has nothing to do with intellect, wisdom and makes some superhuman or less.
In other words, one should expect various accents from place to place, country to country, tribe to tribe, as it is just another tongue that is different and peculiar to people. And so, next time we meet people who talk in another way than us, let us keep in mind that the way they sound unique and different is the same way we sound foreign to them. Therefore, we need to accept one another's uniqueness and let that not make us fear, suspect, or misjudge ourselves because it is just another tongue.

8m · PublishedIn 1985, 36 years ago, a group of musicians in the U.S. came together to produce a single album called the U.S.A. for Africa "We are the World." The seven-minute video shook the World as it suddenly became famous and went viral using today's language. However, that is not the critical thing and lesson to learn fast forward to 2021. My goal in the Global Perspective Podcast initiative is to relate the principle behind "We are the world" and encourage people to reset civil engagements and conversations in a way that will move humanity forward and peace to be the center of our political discussion.

11m · PublishedToday, 20 years ago, America came under heavy attack by some extremists with the parochial, unholy, and dangerous belief system that killing others is the way to please their maker. It has been a long 20 years after, and it is a blessing to be alive today. I stand with millions of fellow Americans to honor the memory of those who lost their lives directly or indirectly due to 9/11. America is still in the healing process. In this episode of the Global Perspective podcast, I will be talking about how we can continue to heal.

8m · PublishedMy goal on the podcast is to lend my voice to lower the high temperature of social-political ideologies that have assumed extreme dimensions where extremism seems to gain followers. Moderate voices appear weak and insignificant to the extent that good people take back seats and withdraw their voices from global issues because moderation seems unprofitable. We need to bring civility, decency, and thoughtfulness back to civil discussions and conversations. This episode explains how much our words matter.
