Charlene, an accomplished educator and innovator talks about Canada's residential school system and its devastating impact on on generations of First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples. She shares her abundance of knowledge, stressing the importance of education in the reconciliation process. She expands on how educating students in indigenous communities and throughout Canada is important to raise a conscious and proactive future generation with indigenous knowledge that is built on truth of Canadian history. Through education, her goal is to build intercultural understanding, empathy and respect.

Charlene is the Education Coordinator for the National Inquiring into Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls and has worked on many initiatives including serving a the Co-Chair for the Downie Wenjack Fund Board of Directors, a member of the indigenous education advisory circle at Pathways to Education Canada, provides support for Alberta Joint Commitment to Action to Education Reconciliation and was formerly the first Education Lead for the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
