Welcome back to our final episode of season 1! This week we have with us Beatriz Guerrero Auna to talk a little bit about what the census is and why it's so important. Tune in to hear why every person should be accounted for!

Join our NGN Berkeley board as we discuss the highlights and limitations of online school during Fall 2020 at UC Berkeley. We will be talking about online school, mental health, and sharing any tips we have learned to cope with the current climate.

With everything going on around the world we wanted to take the time to discussing mental health! Stephen P. Hinshaw said " the utter complexity of the brain, the huge variety of social and cultural environments, and the staggering potential for their interactions during development means that mental disorder is multifaceted and complex rather than simple and straightforward". This week we delve deeper into the complex nature of mental health and discuss what is mental health, how it affects students, different resources we can access and how to combat stigma.  

This week we will be talking about COVID-19 with a fellow student and friend from UC Berkeley. He shares with us his experience losing a family member to COVID-19 and its ramifications on his daily life and academic performance. We also cover topics related to COVID-19 like public perception, medical racism, and what we can do to move forward.  

In today's episode, host Evelyn and Eliseo engage in a conversational interview and discuss their current emotions as UC Berkeley approaches the start of its online fall semester. We explore how we each are adapting to our school's new curriculum to succeed and continue to reach the NGN 21 goals. 

On today’s podcast we will be discussing allyship as it pertains specifically to the Black Lives Matter movement. Content warning we will be discussing racism, anti-blackness, and police brutality. Please prioritize your mental and emotional well-being as necessary. Next Generation Nations, stands firmly with the black community as friend and ally. In order to achieve our 2120 Goals, it is not enough to just say we support social justice, we need to create a world free of anti-blackness.  We must work to create opportunities for black people to thrive socially, economically, and politically and learn how to be authentic allies.
