Would've, Should've, Could've

1h 25m · Published 29 Jul 06:49

Ever pressed replay in your mind just to think about how things would be different if you had the power to change even the tiniest detail? What would you answer when people ask where you see yourself in 5 years? These are some of the things my friend, Tommy Theam, and I think about as we have a casual conversation all about the ways we approach what-if's in life! Usually, it's easy to say that whatever has happened has influenced our lives in some way, but if you think about it in another way, the options that could've happened, or maybe at the time, seemed like they should've happened, but didn't, have their own influential power as well! We welcome you to join us as we reflect on and learn from the past, present, future, and potential moments in life!

Into the World of Acting: On-Stage Vs. On-Screen

1h 46m · Published 10 Aug 05:14

Acting is so much more than lights, camera, action! But do you watch and move on or stop and think about what goes on behind the scenes? This episode means to appreciate all the spectacularity in the industry as we talk about how props, actors and actresses, and more come together to create the masterpieces that constantly flow into entertainment everyday. Do you think you know all the secrets of acting, or how much is "real" or "fake?" Would you ever consider pursuing such a career? Or are you just interested in the juicy details of acting in general? Ava, my friend and our representative of on-stage acting (check out her instagram @ava_miranda555) joins us to share her experiences while I will represent on-screen acting. Join us in the fun as we look at these two sides of acting and reveal some very interesting things as youth actresses. Sit tight and get ready for one heck of a ride!

Are You Doing It The Wrong Way?

41m · Published 09 Jul 20:40

In this episode, my friends, Makayla and Srinidhee, will be joining us in POP's first three-way conversation to answer this simple question: Have you ever been told you're doing it the wrong way? So many things can be done differently, but at the same time, so many things are done so similarly that a couple "right" ways emerge on top. Now, what do you think? What makes something wrong or right? If you're told you're doing something wrong, what would you do? Does this make you self-conscious or reluctant to change? Does it reinforce your pride in being your own kind of weird? It depends on the situation, doesn't it? So we'll just chip a bit of the tip off this iceberg and share a bit of our take on it!

Can You Be Yourself?

55m · Published 25 Jul 20:02

Being yourself...is that something hard to do? Are there rules when it comes to just being yourself? Do you notice if you ever change depending who you're around (maybe friends or family)? Maybe you hold back on things you say or show to others. Maybe you hold back because you know when to be loud or quiet in certain situations. Now what about comparing yourself to others? Does what you see change how you react? My friend and fellow WIT teen, Sreshta, joins me as we talk about just being ourselves and staying true to what we enjoy and really overall owning it!!

Check out more about Sreshta!

Sreshta is currently a busy, but an indeed, very talented and hardworking teen from India. She has also joined WIT (Whatever It Takes) to help her ideas and aspirations grow and thrive, and is even the community coordinator and social media master of WIT's Instagram and more. When she is not thinking about or working on school or entrepreneurship related things, she is looking towards the future. A fun fact about Sreshta is that she can solve the Rubik's Cube and knows Sanskrit! Now here's the fun part! Here's Sreshta's story about where she's going with her significantly impactful and thoughtful business journey:

"When I was surfing through the news, I once came across an article that mentioned the unsanitary conditions of prisons, and especially during COVID-19, prisoners were at a high risk of getting infected. With not much aid offered to them, I wanted to contribute my part and started Prisons Fight COVID-19 where I donated masks and hand sanitizers to prisons in India. Wanting to make my endeavor more long term, I recently decided to pivot into something more long term by starting my very own podcast. Through the podcast I hope to spread positivity through experiences that show that after every setback, there will be something better. Already working on it, I hope to launch soon!"

*There you have it! Sreshta is finding herself in everything she's doing and it would be so amazing if you could look out for updates on her progress and support her soon and upcoming podcast!

Have questions for her or want to reach out? Or maybe just check her out? Well, you can use any of these methods!

Two High Schoolers' Summer Life

1h 6m · Published 25 Jul 19:26

What's up what's up everyone?! Hope you guys are all doing well and having a nice summer! I definitely know mine's a busy one, but still a fun and developmental one. I was just wondering, what do you think about when summer comes into mind? Is it a time to relax and have fun or grind time for those in school, like high school? There's so much going on even when we get a little break time outside of school or work, but somehow we still need to always stay on top of things and my friend from school, Anika, is joining me in this episode to talk about life as cabinet members, basketball players, just normal teens, and more! We talk about our summer experiences, but of course it doesn't mean it's like that for everyone. Even so, do you resonate with anything we're saying? What do you think about what we have to say? We sure do have a lot to share! :)

Btw...remember, these conversations aren't edited! They're meant to just be real and humane just like how life should normally be outside the world of technology!

----

Let's all meet Anika Kasula!

She's an incoming junior with a "somewhat active schedule" this summer according to her "standards." From clubs to sports, she's involved in many activities that she has truly come to enjoy. More often than not, however, she finds herself gravitating toward fun and entertainment than work, but overtime, she has learned that overcoming such obstacles and figuring out what is best for one is a journey; it's meant to be a journey. "Sometimes it just takes a bit of trial and error to help you decide the path you want to take!"

"You don't have to be in Varsity to enjoy a sport or in cabinet to be the best. You are you and doing what you love is what matters. What summer really is all about is not about what you should do, but what you can do and what you enjoy. If we have the time to live life to the fullest, let's just keep living like there's only one way to go -- up!"

Memories in Our Lives

32m · Published 20 Jul 02:02
Hi everyone! In this episode, I talked about what memories are to me and how they stick, about those that slip away, and what I do with them! I thought it would be interesting to discuss how memories are like part of another dimension of our world; they aren't always making up our reality and sometimes they get hidden or forgotten, yet they're still always there, lurking or watching over us. Do you notice the impact of memories and your habits (such as forgetting them) affecting your daily life? What role do/can they play in our lives? What makes memories important to you? Are there trends? If you connect with what I bring up, or maybe hear/learn something new about this topic, let me know!  --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/alyssa-truong/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/alyssa-truong/support

Home Sweet Home?

39m · Published 20 Jul 01:42

The idea is simple. What is a home, in terms of the physical build but also the place that makes us feel the most secure? We've been stuck at home for a while, but why not reflect more upon it? In this episode, my friend, Kylie Thorp, joins me as we talk about the home that we desire versus the one that we actually need. Sometimes, a home only needs a few things to operate and work like what it should do, and sometimes there's things we take for granted and we touch a bit about just being grateful for what we have and for having that special place to call home -- whether it be physically where we are, a place we hold dear but have left, or in our hearts and with what surrounds us.

AND...don't forget to check out Kylie's business!!!

Here's a little message from her:  "Had so much fun being on the podcast and I hope you all enjoyed listening!

If you are interested in learning more about my business check out the following:

Etsy Shop: FreeRoamingJewelry

What's a home to you? Listen to hear how Kylie and I see it! Do you resonate with anything we discussed? Do you have a new perspective to share? Let POP know! BTW: This conversation is unedited! All real and natural!

Another gratitude tip!

1. Similar to returning the favor, or giving back, we can show our gratitude through actions like helping out when the least expected ;)

What Are First Impressions to You?

30m · Published 16 Jul 06:41

Sometimes, I wonder what a first impression can really do when it could be a one-time meeting to something that starts a whole new relationship. It was just something I wanted to talk about, and here we are...

Do you give off certain vibes or think other people have an inexplicable aura when you first meet them? Does that have something to do with the power of first impressions? What do you think? Do you relate with anything that my friend, Ethan, and I talk about in this episode? Listen to find out!

*Disclaimer: In this episode, a somewhat violent childhood game was mentioned while remembering some past stories, but POP does not encourage people to play this game, especially because it has the potential of being taken too far.

Introducing the POP Podcast!

Hello everyone! What is the POP podcast all about?

POP is getting things started with its first podcast, a simple and short introduction to the beginning works of it! I'm Alyssa Truong, a spontaneous teen whose mind is always full of questions and intriguing thoughts, and I thought, "Why not share this with others and see if they wonder the same?" So, with this podcast, I hope to bring something new, fun, and interesting each and every time. I've been wanting to start a podcast for a while, and here I am, trying to put something out there, so I'd love if you could support and share POP and look ahead for more to come!

P.S. - I do know I introduce myself quite a few times, but by the end of it all, will you still remember my name? :) It's all about trying new things in the beginning to find what road to take!
