If you're a millennial doing magick, chances are you used, have, or at least heard of Donald Michael Kraig's Modern Magick. Commonly recommended as the go-to for beginners, the book is one of the best-sold occult titles close to Regardie's The Golden Dawn. 

Starting with the author's story and how its material got updated, Modern Magick mainly uses the Golden Dawn system... Though it also incorporates Wiccan ideology and particular Eastern practices. 

Unlike others on the same thematic, the book is extremelly easy and pleasant to read, having a tone similar to some self-help bestsellers. Close to 500 pages, Modern Magick is very eclectic, packing plenty of material. Since summarising it all would be lengthy and unreasonable, I'll focus this review on what I enjoyed and didn't enjoy the most after having it for five years.

This is an in-depth summary and review of Damon Brand’s The 72 Angels of Magick by Gallery Magick.Contrary to some people's beliefs, invoking angels could be readily accessible. This is one of the key messages conveyed in the book. Made of the material in Magickal Angels and Greater Magickal Angels, The 72 Angels of Magick outlines a method developed by GOM 30 years ago. Employing sigils and a talisman, the system works with the 72 Angels of Shemhamphorasch, serving various purposes.

The 72 Angels of Power is split into three parts. The first comprises most instructions. The second is the largest and includes all the sigils, divine names, and purposes for conjuring each spirit. And the third is the smallest, packing additional thoughts and guidance. I find this order identical to Magickal Destiny's, which I enjoyed thoroughly. Respecting the author's work, I won't examine any of the sigils included in this review but rather focus on the text.

If you are even slightly an otaku, you know that numerous anime series use the occult for inspiration. Starting with the iconic Neon Genesis Evangelion and proceeding to more modern like Fate's Universe, the examples are so many I doubt I'll ever watch them all.

Nonetheless, I believe one title stands out regarding balancing fiction with actual magickal concepts. Made by JC Staff, that's none other than my favorite Toaru-Project. After watching it about 10 times, I decided to break down parts of it as a student of the esoteric. I also got some inspiration for this from Gigguk, who uses his knowledge in electronic and electrical engineering to explain segments of the anime. So in this video, I’m breaking down my favourite parts as a student of the occult and lover of the series.
