My name is Shaylin Farley and I’m a Thayer Academy Global Scholars student. This is my global scholars capstone project. Thank you for joining me for today’s episode which will essentially focus on the immense issue of sex trafficking in India. This is a topic that is not often discussed in the US, so focusing my research on this issue has raised my awareness on how human trafficking can be international and how prominent of an issue it is. One may ask, what is human trafficking? For those that do not know, human trafficking involves the use of force, or fraud to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. What a lot of people are unaware of is that human trafficking occurs everywhere. My goal of this podcast is to primarily discuss a topic that is hardly conversed, raise awareness for parents and women, and ultimately explore sex trafficking in India by observing gender and explaining cultural norms that are embedded in Indian life.
