TEaCH CoLab

Two exchange students from Washington State reflect on their experiences of life in Waterford, Ireland. In a very open and easy fashion, students Mindy Vu and Jennifer Dinh talk with Rob O'Connor (from Waterford) about the people the met and places they've visited during their time in Ireland. They also compare discuss differences in the academic approaches of the Irish and US systems.

The TEaCH CoLab group has enjoyed a number of onsite visits over the course of its life to date, but Covid called a halt to all of that for two years. However, this March (2022),  faculty from University of Washington, Bothell travelled to WIT to work on a variety of aspects of the TEaCH CoLab project. At the end of the visit, five members of staff recorded a podcast to reflect on the experiences of the previous few days. The panel talked about the importance of professional development and personal connection to this type of work, and the various ways in which the project has benefitted students, some of whom are now on an Erasmus+ exchange between campuses. They also discussed plans for the next phase of their work.

The panel includes Jody Early and Andrea Stone from the University of Washington, Bothell and Jenny O'Connor and Mairead Barry of Waterford Institute of Technology. Hosted by Rob O'Connor of WIT.

The panel talk about academic community engagement during the COVID pandemic. They discuss projects they're involved with, how they worked pre-COVID, how things changed during COVID and what lessons can be learned for future unforeseen events.

One of our own TEaCH CoLab colleagues, Jody Early interviews Professor Michael Harvey of Temple University in Philadephia. The interview took place as part of Jody’s role as social media editor for the peer reviewed journal – Pedagogy in Health Promotion. Michael Harvey is a professor of public health and recently wrote an award winning paper titled:

This podcast is a recording of a webinar (held over Zoom) which was held over the summer in which the panel discussed what would happen if Roe v Wade was overturned, in terms of abortion rights and advocacy in US.
